Extract of sample "Insurance Claim Follow Up"

The follow-up process of insurance claims is essential, especially when such claims are unpaid. It is important to follow up unpaid insurance claims in order to ensure that relevant authorizations are made and that the underlying payment will actually be made. Without follow-ups, claims that are not authorized are hard to detect (Padfield, 2012). This may lead to clinics or hospitals realizing deteriorating financial well-being.
Following up insurance claims especially those that are not paid confirms whether or not claim records are available to the insurer. This facilitates timely reimbursements by ensuring that claims are correctly and timely filed. Finally, the follow-up informs the claiming party of the claims that have been approved, those that have been denied, and those that are likely to be underpaid. In so doing, mistakes related to insurance claims are easy to detect and correct. Therefore, insurance follow-up ensures that the insured-insurer dealings do not jeopardize the normal operations and performance of organizations. Read More

Act Tortious: Homeowners File a Tort Claim against a Theme Park

In criminal law, the state is portrayed as the bigger offended party than the plaintiff such that if a defendant is proven guilty the state metes out the appropriate punishment.  It is different in tort cases, in which the plaintiff, whose more popular assignation now is “claimant,” is the victim of the alleged wrong.  Once the defendant is found liable he is directed by the court to pay damages to the claimant or else to desist from the wrongful activity through “injunctive relief.” Compensation and deterrence are two of the four main purposes of a tort, the other two being appeasement and justice (Williams, 1951).

Importance and Changes in the Level of Interest Rates to Banking and Insurance Sector in the UK

Indicatively, Ahiakport (2003, 42) noticed that “interest is compensation for the use of capital; not necessarily money”. Moreover, the above researcher mentioned that in general “quantity of money determines the supply of liquid resources, and hence the rate of interest, and in conjunction with other factors (particularly that of confidence) the inducement to invest” (Ahiakport, 2003, 55). In other words, interest rates are related to the capital both directly and indirectly. The direct relation refers to the increase of capital under the influence of specific interest rates, while the indirect relation can be assumed by the ‘attraction’ of foreign funds in a particular country due to high-inte...

Reforming The Principles of Insurable Interests in English Insurance Law

The two major reasons for introducing the principle of insurable interest are (a) to prevent gambling through insurance and (b) to deter moral hazards, such as encouraging a person to take insurance and then do away with the person who is the subject of the insurance, in order to benefit from it1. However, the UK Law Commission and the Scottish Law Commission (2006) have stated three broad criticisms of the existing law, which include inaccessibility, incoherence, and unduly restrictiveness. One of these is the fact that spouses may insure each others’ lives, however, cohabitees “do not gain such a right merely as consequence of cohabitation.”2
In view of the increasing trend towards cohabitation, should coh...
