Appropriate Level of Public Funding For Political Parties Task Full funding would be the most appropriate level. This is crucial owing to the large amount of money needed to run a successful election campaign. This prevents new and smaller parties, which are a vital part of a democracy, from exerting their influence on government because they cannot do extensive campaigns. Big parties belonging to the affluent tend to pick up leadership if public funding is not offered fully (Raja, 2006). This is because the wealthy can afford the amount of money needed to do a successful election campaign yet they are unrepresentative of the people.

The new and small parties tend to lose, mainly because of derisory funds. The public should be given the right to donate to a cause they strongly believe in, as this ensures parties whose opinions are most favored by the public get a chance to exercise their right in government.Full funding by the public aids smaller parties that are often appreciated by a wider populace (Raja, 2006). These small parties can fashion a perfect leadership to the whole society as the elite group is expected to ignore people in low class.

In addition, the public is able to decide how they need to be ruled since their taxes is what sustains politicians, and these leaders have a conscience that it is the people they represent who brought them to power. Failure to meet their expectations, the public has the right to remove them from leadership. This ensures that political parties are representative of the people they serve. It is evident that full public funding ensures that a complete view of opinions is represented. Since there is a common tendency of the elite, who belong to prominent parties wanting to use power to oppress others, full state funding ensures that all parties are on the same playing field level.

Hence, meaning the minor parties is given a fair opportunity just like the prominent parties. Reference Raja, R. (2006). The Potential Effects of Public Funding on Political Parties. University of Massachusetts. Retrieved on October 4, 2011 from:
