It has been stated that a minimum contact must be established between the defendant, forum and the claim for a personal jurisdiction to be exercised by the court of the state. The court, in this case, decided to reverse the decision that was taken by the Supreme Court of Oklahoma because it ruled that the appellants, Worldwide-Volkswagen and Seaway had no contact with Oklahoma. This was because certain limitations still existed and it was stated that the state lines fall under the Due Process of Clause of the Constitution and since the appellants did not have any business or agents in the state of Oklahoma, the incident that occurred there was not their fault.
It could not have even been foreseen because foreseeability could have only come when the defendants had established and carried on some business in the state of Oklahoma.
