Why should we make Alcohol illegal? Alcohol is one of the widely used drugs in today’s world and different organizations and individuals since the ancient times are using alcohol. However, different strategists and analysts believe that the negative effects of alcohol are wide and varied. It actually affects the entire body of a human being and it possesses both short and the long-term effects. Alcoholism is a major issue, which affects our daily lives in a variety of ways and should be made illegal. Some of these problems include accidents due to drinking and driving, underage consumption of alcohol and immoral, unethical and criminal activities which follow consumption of alcohol. This paper analyzes the scenario that should we make alcohol illegal and how we should contribute in solving the problem that is affecting our lives in both the short and the long run. Alcohol is comprised of different elements like vegetables, grains or fruits and all of these ingredients are fermented. The process of fermentation is harmful for a human body because yeast and bacteria changes the element of sugar in the food into alcohol (Cornett, 2005). This alcohol becomes extremely harmful for an individual in both the short and the long run. However, many people argue on the fact that since it comprises natural products and these natural products are quite beneficial for humans then why it is harmful. But, these people are unaware of the fact that when people are involved in drinking alcohol then it is absorbed in the bloodstream and it negatively affects the body and different other part of a human being (Bowers, 2009). Drinking alcohol affects the nervous system of the body and through this nervous system all the body functions becomes in efficiently because of this. Therefore, the phenomenon of alcoholism is a genuine problem and there must be a proper solution of this problem (Cornett, 2005). Alcoholism is definitely a problem and that is the reason why it this problem should be eliminated from the society as soon as possible unless it would affect the growth of a human being and it also affects the overall growth of a society (Stewart, 2004). The negative effects of alcohol are wide and varied and it is a depressant. The purpose of a depressant is to slow down the functions of a central nervous system. Alcohol blocks different messages of the brain and proper messages reception is not possible in this scenario. The perceptions, movement, control, hearing and the excessive use of alcohol affects vision of a person. People usually become addictive to alcohol because when they take it into small amounts then at times they feel more relaxed and less anxious (Fisk, 2009). However, if you consume alcohol in excessive amounts then it might result in intoxication. There are different people who slur when they speak, they losses their coordination and this is all because of alcohol (Collier, 2008). All these alcohol consumers are confused and disoriented in their lives. The affects of intoxication in certain conditions are slow and people become very angry and aggressive at times. The alcohol is associated as one of the deadliest drug of the planet because of the fact that it links the phenomenon of slow poisoning (Fisk, 2009). The negative effects of alcohol can be identified by the fact that if alcohol is consumed in greater quantities than a person might die because of alcohol poisoning. People might also engage in violent vomiting and because of it, death might occur. Despite of all these problems that are associated with the consumption of alcohol there are different people and even teenagers who consume alcohol in the form of beers, whiskeys, rum, etc. Organizations that owns alcohol oriented products market these products extensively uses adventurous themes to market the products (Fisk, 2009). Ultimately, when people consumer these products they affected by that. As far as the illegality of alcohol is concerned, it should be kept in mind that in most of the countries selling alcohol to underage people is prohibited. In the similar manner, alcohol consumption restricts Muslim countries and people of these countries cannot consume alcohol (Miller, 2009). It is illegal in the United States and people cannot buy it until they are 21. Still there are different individuals that can easily get access to it. Addiction to alcohol is one of the biggest phenomenons that is associated with it and that is the core reason why it is an illegal drug in most of the countries. Alcohol should be illegal because the negatives affects of alcohol are more than its positive effects. Alcohol acts like a slow poison that is the reason why it is illegal in many countries (Miller, 2009). Since the consumption of alcohol is illegal therefore if people who are found consuming it are at serious risks because the punishment is very severe. Teenagers usually end up fighting or an adult molests them because they have lost their consciousness. Furthermore, authorities also arrest them because of the underage consumption (Brown, 1890). Students are the ones that confront the consequences as it actually damages the ability of a student to study and the entire coordination of an individual is lost. People consume alcohol in the form of beer, rum, whiskey have an idea that they are looking handsome and cool because of this. However, they are unaware of the fact that excessive consumption of alcohol can make them look extremely stupid and they might engage in embarrassing things like peeing on themselves and throwing thing etc. Sexual activeness is also present in the teens that usually consume more alcohol (Cornett, 2005). They are ones who in their lives are involved in rapes and sexual molestation. They are more towards unprotected and unsafe sex, which would actually result in unwanted pregnancies and transmittal of deadly diseases like AIDS. Alcohol must be illegal to all the ages because due to excessive consumption, individuals are not in their control and they can hit themselves or any other individual (College, 1987). Questioning the illegality of alcohol is not a positive measure because if it is legal then it might result in car crashes, homicide and even suicide. The teenagers and other individuals might also face issues like obesity and people are usually more overweight because of it. The main aspect that is associated with the issue of alcohol is that people and organizations should consider that it is a problem and this problem should be resolved (Emerson, 1934). In the similar manner, it can be said that organizations and individuals should join their hands in solving this problem because the negative effects of this problem is quite devastating. Social services organizations and governments should adopt different policies and procedures so that this problem should be resolved (Cornett, 2005). The measures that can be taken by different authorizes and individuals. All these measures are listed below: Training and workshops: Organizations and individual should organize different trainings and workshops to stop this menace of alcohol consumption. These trainings should be provided on a regular basis so that teenagers and young adults should understand the importance of why they should not consume alcohol. In the similar manner, medical doctors and practitioners train the people because of the fact that they are well aware about the negative effects of alcohol (Collier, 2008). Furthermore, they can teach people and give them certain advices about how they can leave this menace and they should discuss that what long term and the short term affects are associated with alcohol. Personal motivation: An individual should be personally motivated to stop himself/herself from consuming alcohol. There are different people that adopt different strategies when it comes to alcohol consumption and some people say that I cannot drink bear because my uncle died of it. Furthermore, some can also say that I cannot consume alcohol because I have a match tomorrow. However, there are certain aspects associated with it like people usually feel uncomfortable and they feel isolated because they are not consuming alcohol and everyone is consuming it (Emerson, 1934). Therefore, in this situation, people can say that I am not feeling feel and my coach will kill me because of this. These excuses are although lame but for saving your own life everyone should develop his/her own strategy against alcohol. However, in order to solve this issue there are different costs that are associated with it like money, time, social pressure, personal commitment, etc. A person has to take certain medication when he/she has decided to stop drinking. Therefore, in this scenario one can say that money is involved in this aspect. However, business oriented individuals and people are who are working somewhere else needs a certain amount of time to sort these issues. Besides that, it should be kept in mind that the most influencing factor in this regard is the peer factor and if your friends or relatives are drinking alcohol then it is highly probable that you would also drink (Roueche, 1962). However, the cost that is associated in this regard is losing the company of such friends that are alcohol drinkers. Although this is a difficult strategy, however, it can be beneficial in both the short and the long run. Alcohol should be made illegal to curb the problems discussed throughout the paper as voluntary abstinence is quite low. The prohibition of alcohol would immediately result in a lower crime rate and a healthier environment not only for adults but for the children as well. The consumption of alcohol is not a need but rather a luxury or want and people we can persuade people to give up drinking not only to stay healthier but to promote an ethical and moral society which thrives on low crime rates. Alcohol is a major part of the consumption of daily households and the money saved from expensive alcohol can be put to good use in healthier activities. The best solution to this problem is to create awareness among individuals, consumers and pressure groups to highlight the dangers of consuming alcohol. Another solution is to bring peoples' attention to the ill fate of using alcohol and what addiction to alcohol can do to people. Thus, it can be concluded that alcohol is negative drug that should only be used in medical prescriptions and it should be consumed with the help of a doctor. Consuming alcohol is not good for the health because the disadvantages of alcohol are wide and varied. This phenomenon should be considered as a problem and people should try their level best to solve this issue.
