Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) trails the investigations of a team of spies as they unveil the circumstances behind mysterious and unusual deaths and other crimes. Actions taken at the outset of an investigation at a crime scene can play a pivotal role in the resolution of a case. Careful, thorough investigation is the key to ensure that potential physical evidence is not tainted or destroyed or potential witnesses overlooked. There was a case of the murder of an 18-years old college student whose body was found near his dorm. Call for help was given by the gathering there and in no time the call was entertained and at the point of event police officers, Crime Scene Investigator (CSI), paramedic unit and a forensic team arrived. A yellow crime scene ribbon ropes off the area to bar observers from entering and contaminating the evidence points. The Crime Scene Investigator (CSI) collected the evidence which shows that there were three people with whom the victim had shown the signs of struggle at the last moment of his life and the boy was murdered due to throttle as a mechanism of death as there were finger marks appreciable on the his neck. I was there as a part of investigation team we all agreed upon seeing these marks there. A rough sketch was made of the body and the position of the body was preserved. The body is lying in such a condition that he died after a heavy struggle, the body was lying on the ground upside down and his body was half exposed because his clothes were torn. There were three types of shoe marks there which indicated three types of foot prints in these foot prints it also became evident that one of the that one out those three people was a female. The way the footprints were placed was favoring the fact indicating that the boy not dead body only struggle with the two men while the woman is standing at one side only watching or recording what is happening which was also raising a doubt that may be the reason of this crime the fight is that woman. A medical expert and police photographer that were there came forward and after all the shots of the body were taken. The medical expert started examining the body by just throwing a careful watch on it and along with that he also started collecting useful information. After this aspect was covered the body was searched for the belongings with the dead body but all his pockets were empty and were torn and it was giving an evidence that they had been emptied freshly most probably by the criminal. This aspect of the investigation gave another picture that he was killed may be because he had some property with him and the criminals were trying to snatch that. Photographer was taking pictures from all every angle of the body as a set of “CSI shot” (This is technique of shooting extreme close-ups, normally with explanatory commentary from one of the characters from the media) (CSI, 2004). Measurements and a rough sketch were made to preserve the scene for further study and investigations and possible reconstruction. A Crime Scene Photographer went through the entire area and the team documented the scene along with photos. He started with taking wide shots of the scene, then close-ups of every bit of evidence as it was found. They collect and preserve every piece of evidence they found I.e. Finger prints, DNA, hairs and fibers are collected and preserved from the body. The medical expert along with forensic team collected the information for forwarding it to the forensic laboratory for investigation. The information came from people around there showed that the boy was a college student living in the hostel along with other friends. The investigation of course was to be started with the gathering of his friends and it did happen in that sequence. First they checked the hostel particularly his room and asked the hostel authorities that who was the closest friends of the boy that was murdered. The hostel authorities told them the name of the three friends of the murdered boy in which one was very close to him. So investigation was started from his close friend and they asked him some questions. Considering that fact that the closest friend will better know about the habits and day to day routine of the late boy so they asked him some questions about his late friend and this greatly helped the investigator about locating the murderer. First they asked him about the habits of his friend and he told them that there were many bad habits in his late friend. First one is that he was very found of alcohol drinks. Second one is that he had friendship with some call girls. And the third one was that he always kept a huge some of money within his wallet and there were two guys in the hostel who knew that he had a huge amount of money recently money and they often teased him for that. The main point at which the investigators focused in their investigation from late person friend was that why and for where was he going out of the hostel that evening. The answer they received from him was that on that evening before his murder he had more a bit more money than usual and he was going out. When he asked his late friend that where was he going and why he was keeping more money than normal. He replied to his friend that he was going to market to buy the latest laptop for him. And he went out of the room but after a little while he came back and he was little confused. When the friend asked him why did he come back so soon and why was he worried? He answered him that the same boys who used to tease him were standing in the gate and that evening there was a girl also there standing along with them and today he had more money than normal. He thought that he should go through the back door. So he went out through the back door because of them and after a little while of that the late boys friend also came out of the room and he looked at gate but there were no one there and he supposed that they had already left. The investigators then monitored the two boys which were pointed by the late boy’s best friend. They saw that most of the time they had a woman with them and they also noticed that habits of the two boys along with their female friend were not too good. They often fought with each other and other for money, drinks and girls. The forensic Laboratory report clearly showed that there are two types of finger prints in throttling and two persons were involved. The blood samples, DNA, hairs and fibers samples clearly were conclusive of the above conclusion. After the Forensic Laboratory report and monitory report of two boys the investigators concluded that most probably those two boys were responsible for this murder and later on arresting the two boys and taking the blood and DNA samples were matched with samples found on the dead body and they were the same one as verified that those two boys had murdered that 18 year old college student and after that they accept their crime. The woman was not involved with them in killing she was only their friend but she was there at the time of the crime and she witnessed that. They wanted the money from the boy because that day they had no money for drinks and according to the girl the late boy refused to give it to them so they start snatching it by force. First they throttled him and after he died and the boys took the money from him and left him behind. References 1.
