In addition, the paper will also reflect upon the roles that have been played by the police along with other authorities in the case along with the benefits that can be attained by them if such similar instances occur in the near future. Introduction The Boston Marathon bombings that was held on 15th of April, 2013 kept the world speechless. The Boston Marathon bombings revealed about the grievous damage that can be caused by using few household appliances and lower-power explosive resources. This massacre took away 3 lives and injured around 264 people (The Boston Globe, 2013). The bombs were responsible for creating high amount of impacts as the bombs exploded in a continuous manner for around 13 seconds in Boylston Street (The Boston Globe, 2013). Thus, the paper will highlights the concerning factors associated with the adversity of the bombings in an in-depth manner. In relation to this aspect, the paper will also represent the major factors associated with the entities that were responsible for the bombings. Correspondingly, the major objectives of the paper will comprise determination of the extent physical harm along with destruction that takes place due to terrorism. In this respect, proper analysis will be followed in order to assess the extremity of the concerned attack i.e. Boston marathon bombing that shook the nation and its people. In relation to this aspect, the paper will also comprise different aspects associated with the prevention of terrorism. Summary In relation to the aspects of the Boston marathon bombing, the paper will provide a clear cut idea pertaining to the adversities associated with it. In this similar respect, the paper will highlight certain argumentative sections comprising the rationale of the attacks backed with further understandings of the subject matter with the help of a short literature review. In relation to the benefits, it can be said that the police can widely be benefitted through the Boston marathon bombing. This fact delivers the maximum amount of weightage owing to the participation of the police in reducing the terrorist attacks in near future. It will definitely allow them to showcase their diversified skills in controlling terrorism and attacks. Moreover, it will also allow the police department to make strong collaboration with broad governmental authorities to cope up with such drastic attacks in the near future. Moreover, it will also provide them with an in-depth knowledge about the prospective danger that simple household appliances and lower-power explosives can cause. In regards to this incident the view of Southers (2013) states “the threat does not begin and end with al Qaeda”. This view point also provides an in-sight to the police team about being more cautious and assertive in combatting terrorist attacks. However, Boston marathon bombing in the future definitely poses hazards to the public, which causes great deal of concern in their minds. Further instances of such events will definitely lead to building of a high alert within the nation. Police along with security forces will definitely play a very crucial role in the contentment of a nation which can help in shaping it up in a positive manner (The Boston Globe, 2013). Critical Thinking After the attack, The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and their efforts came into play in the entire investigation process. On April 18th 2013, there was a release of photographs and certain surveillance video of two of the suspects associated with the blasts. The later investigations revealed that the suspects were named as Tamerlan Tsarnaev and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev (FEMA, 2013; Klontz & Jain, 2013). The FBI was responsible for releasing the images. In response, the suspect killed a police officer, and was also responsible for carjacking an SUV (Sports Utilized Vehicle). Thus, it can be said that the bombings that took place did not put an end to the negative instances. There was a lot of critical thinking procedure that has been followed in the process of identification of the two major suspects in the Marathon Bombing (FEMA, 2013; Klontz & Jain, 2013). Experimental Setup The authorities were able to carry out the investigation procures in a quite technologically advanced manner. The police were able to replicate a very innovative process in which an automatic facial recognition setting presented a clear cut picture of the Boston Marathon bombings with the help of two state-of-the-art business ‘face recognition systems’ along with various images published by news agencies and law enforcement (FEMA, 2013; Klontz & Jain, 2013). Arguments of the Paper The relation to the accident, it has been learned that there were numerous amounts of criticisms that seemed to be associated with it. There have been reports, which suggested the adversity of the accident and the level up to, which it has been able to pose fear in the minds of the people. After lot investigations it has been found that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was the prime individual who was behind the bombings. However, there were high amount of adversities that seems to be related with the events. Reports suggested that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's older brother Tamerlan was the main player in the marathon bombings. He has been considered to be the driving force behind the bombings. Many legal experts delivered relevant conclusions pertaining to the high amount of negative influence that was created by Tamerlan in persuading Dzhokhar for implanting the bombs (FEMA, 2013; Klontz & Jain, 2013). On the other hand, it has been learned that on the afternoon of the bombings, The New York Post reported that another suspect hailing from Saudi Arabia was kept under guard for questioning him in relation to the blast at a Boston hospital. All of these processes were undertaken in order to determine the main culprit. However, all these instances were circulating in a very fast pace with widespread reports by CNN, CBS News along with various other media, which lead to the Middle Eastern individual in custody. On further assumptions it was observed that there had also been wide circulation of reports that suggested that the Tsarnaev brothers were solely responsible for building and planting two of the most deadly pressure cooker bombs, which has been placed in front of the finish line on April 15 marathon. In relation to identification of the key results, proper investigation procedures have been laid in order to ascertain the assumptions and reasons. The major results were delivered due to the various surveillance cameras that were put in place. Investigations primarily suggested that the main reason for which the bomb was planted was to strike back the United States in order to put a stoppage to the U.S. military provocation in various Muslim countries. As reported in the earlier sections, that the explosions took away life of three people and injured more than 264 (FEMA, 2013; Klontz & Jain, 2013). Arguments took form through other ways whereby it has been learned that the responsible entities in Boston Bombings were solely "motivated by their religious views" which resulted in the deadly blasts (FEMA, 2013). This aspect was able to pose a range of argumentative instances, which seem to derive a different picture. As mentioned in the above part, investigated reports suggested that the bombings were made in order to strike back the U.S. military and on the other hand the bombings main cause were solely motivated of religious views. Thus, mismatch of thought processes pose high rate of arguments that seem rock the nation to a very large extent. However, all of these instances seem to derive a clear cut picture about the severity of the issue and it also enabled the authorities to make fruitful plans in order to cope up with such future instances. This factor can very well be related with the pros factor. On the other hand, high amount of argumentative aspects relating to the bombing’s actual reason can be considered to be a major con (FEMA, 2013; Klontz & Jain, 2013; Andersen, 2012). In relation to the blasts, there was a major role that has been played by the media. According to a report provided by Andersen (2012), the April 15 bombings in the Boston Marathon was able to provide a captivating opportunity to discover the various ways through which digital media has been able to change lives. There were numerous reports that have been provided, which proved in delivering a clear cut image of the situation (Andersen, 2012). Moreover, all the events that were related to the blasts familiarized to the public in order create a high amount of awareness. Some of the major reports concerning the blasts have been documented in a well organized manner by The Washington Post, which proved to be very beneficial for the public. The reports showcased that the explosions took place in a public space where there were numerous professional along with amateur cameras that were placed proving proper surveillance. Placing of cameras in the particular location proved to be very fruitful as they were able to clear cut images along with videos of the explosion (FEMA, 2013; Finn, 2013). According to Finn (2013), there have been reports suggesting Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s interest in the basic fundamentals Islamist literature. As he is the prime suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings, a Federal Grand Jury was seen to put weightage to the fact that Islamist who have a strong dislike for Americans will never want to see the progress of America. Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, being a follower of Islamic literature put him in the state of having strong involvement with blasts (Finn, 2013). Analysis of the sayings of the above mentioned authors reflects a picture about different views that has been considerably studied in response to the attacks. Each of the authorities seem to put forward the offensive role that has been played by the prime suspect i.e. Dzhokhar Tsarnaev along with the severity of the attack i.e. Boston Marathon bombing. Thus, all of the viewpoints primarily suggested proper punishment for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. The primary reasons for deriving into such assumptions were because of the fact that there have been numerous reports that were studied in the earlier sections suggesting Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s strong involvement in the blasts (Andersen, 2012; Finn, 2013). President’s Sayings about the Attack The major reports clearly indicate that both public along with the legal authorities were able to have proper access to quality data that helped in setting an example and created an alarm for other similar events in the future. Moreover, the finish line in which the blast took place was being recorded by numerous cameras that helped in delivering a clear view of the blast. Professional videos along with photos were freely delivered to the authorities in order to investigate the situation in an in depth manner. These aspects helped in providing numerous authorities with ample amount of data that provided aid in further processing. Even, the honourable President of the United States of America Barrack Obama showed up almost immediately after the attack took place. The sole purpose for his visit was to ensure calmness and patience. However, he was also found to reprimand the prosecution of the perpetrators as soon as they are caught. In addition, he assured all the Americans proper safety along with security (Klontz & Jain, 2013; Turner Publishing Company (NA), 1996). A view of the blast that took place in the Boston Marathon (Andersen, 2012). Source: (Klontz & Jain, 2013). The above images showcase the Facial images that have been released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). All of the images represent the two prime suspects in the Boston Marathon bombings. Suspect 1 i.e. Tamerlan Tsarnaev has been found to wear a black hat along with Suspect 2, i.e. Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, has been found to wear a white hat (Klontz & Jain, 2013). They have been also found to have carried ‘Backpacks’ individually, which tends to be the main element in the bombings (Klontz & Jain, 2013). Discussion In relation to the above analysis, it is felt that by way of reviewing the pros and cons of the Boston Bombings it can provide a great aid to the police, commander and any other authority associated with law. It will provide great aid to tackle the issues relating to crisis management and terrorist attacks. The overall analysis provided fruitful insights to the various technologies that were used to trace the suspect. Thus, it will provide with great deal of helping hand in order to prepare future plan to combat similar terrorist attacks. The overall analysis proved to be quiet beneficial as it delivered a clear picture of how the police along with other authority followed the process of intense investigation. All of the instances helped in deriving at a conclusion that all the investigations process were carried in a timely basis, which delivered clear cut images along with the videos of the bombings as well. The police were able to pinpoint major factors relating to the possible causes of the attack in an appropriate manner (McCormick, 2005). However, there are other techniques that the police might adopt in order to avoid uncertain situations similar to the attacks i.e. Boston Bombings that may arise in the future. The police can collaborate with the ‘Special Weapons and Tactics’ SWAT team, which is very much specialized in taking care of such situations relating to terrorism. In relation to the aspects of controlling situations such as use of explosives, usage of deadly weapons and firearms among others, which pose variable amount of fear in the minds of the civilians, can be controlled in an effective way. In relation to the context of United States, the police can introduce access control devices along with alarms in those locations, which are densely populated. Addition of such devices including surveillance cameras will definitely prove to pose variable amount of fear in the minds of terrorists. Furthermore, it will also lead to contentment of the people to a very large extent, which is considered to be very important for any nation to sustain in a healthy manner (FEMA, 2013; Blauner, 2013). Conclusion From the overall analysis it has been learned that there were lot of adversities relating to the Boston Bombings. It has been learned that the attack took place on 15th of April 2013 that took out the lives of 3 people and an approximate number of 264 people were injured. Moreover, the paper provided a brief idea pertaining to the aspects of Police along with security forces that can play a very crucial role in the contentment of a nation to a very large extent. The paper provided a brief analysis regarding the state-of-the-art business face recognition systems along with usage of high tech surveillance cameras that proved to provide a great helping hand to law. Moreover, certain strategies have been recommended that can help in preventing such terror instances in the near future. References Andersen, N. (2013). Boston marathon bombing as case study.
