? Comparison between Training Day and Adjustment Bureau Introduction Ethics, which are also referred to as moral philosophy, involve the study of what is right and wrong, and how the society is supposed to live. It involves making moral judgments by deciding what is right or wrong, good or bad. It therefore means that ethics exclusively address the logical and reasoned ways of interpretation of the issues that we engage with during all activities in life. Ethics help and guide individuals in making rational decisions when faced with scenarios that need moral judgments that reflect personal values, by developing clear analytical skills in reasoning abilities to understand the crucial decisions that have to be made. Crime refers to an unlawful activity that is done in law violation, where moral inclusiveness is used in ensuring criminal justice. Criminal justice system is a composition of a group of professionals, who exercise power and authority bestowed to them over other parties, to use force and physical coercion against them. Application of ethical values in rational decisions made in the criminal justice is also critical so that right decisions are made after serious critical thinking is employed to address the important issues of ethics, and the code of conduct within the law (Ethics in Criminal Justice Administration, 2012). When ethical values are effectively applied or incorporated when making serious and critical decisions, the decisions made are bound to be correct and very appropriate to the situation under consideration. Ethics are very critical when making critical decisions, because they help in guiding the decision which in most cases, if not well guided, may be wrong or inappropriate. Each field has its own ethics to be followed, though there are various ethical standards which are common in almost all the disciplines or which are universal. These universal standards of ethics or ethical standards guide a lot in decision making. In criminal justice just like any other field, proper decisions are critical because they aid in facilitating success. Adjustment bureau and the training day film critically analyzing the various issues of the ethics, crime and criminal justice where various decisions are made by significant actors in the movie. Here, the adjustment bureau does everything to stop David and Elise from being together using their considerable power. David in the destiny of all manners of fate is presented with a scenario where he has to do all that he can to ensure that he fulfills his desires regardless of the adjustment bureau (School of Criminal Justice, 2008). David as depicted in this scenarios is a go getter, who won’t let anything stop him from achieving what he wants or intents to achieve in life. His determination to achieve is clearly demonstatated in this scenario where he works so hard to ensure that none of his desires go unsatisfied in the end. The kind of determination exhibited here by this character is overwhelming, and is of great encouragement to those people who easily give up before achieving their targets or before satisfying their desires. In the idea of criminal justice, The Adjustment Bureau and The Training Day present the process of claims that dramatizations in media are so often misrepresent, and distort concepts of criminal justice. They also present the various legal systems leveled in various fictional bureau, such as the police officers implementing criminal justice in the movies, Adjusting Bureau and Training Day. In understanding all the connections in terms of decision making and critical and rational decision making, it’s very critical for one to be very considerate. According to the film and the instruments of criminal justice in line with ethical codes of conduct, the following discussion exemplifies the issues ironed out (United NationsOffice on Drugs and Crime, 2009). Justifying beliefs and decisions In validating the ways of life and decisions made in the criminal justice system, explaining what such decisions and who makes them and why they are made is very critical. Decisions have to be made with the knowledge of the consequences critically affecting the liberties and people’s lives, especially in the film where certain decisions are made by criminal justice professionals. The personality values and the context in which the person is confronted is an important fact of rationality in decision making. The decisions made are affected by the cultural beliefs and diversities. Morality and ethics are relative to the norms of one’s culture. Ethical relativism as standards of moral standards against which society’s practices can be judged is on its own (John, 2005). Thinking critically Critical thinking involves the act of serious analyzing of situations in criminal justice system, and it relates well with the films, Adjustment Bureau and Training Day. Law enforcement by the security agencies and championing of criminal justice in determining whether law has been broken, how to respond and when to make arrests is very critical. The detective agents apply critical thinking in gathering evidence in crime solution and determining the criminal activities of suspects. Critical thinking is also used by the judges in adjudication of justice to oversee the whole process of legal proceedings. The relationship between ethics and professional behavior and the role of critical thinking are important facets in criminal justice. In executing what is ethical and moral conduct, there lie obligations in professional application of critical thinking in criminal justice (Richard et al., 2005). Utilizing our capacity to reasoning The capacity to utilize the use of logic helps us to distinguish the general and universal principles of morality. Moral judgments in conceptualizing the facts in the films Adjustment Bureau and Thinking Day in situations from moral perspectives or standpoints embodying the general principles helps in acting in a moral way. Moral reasoning in ethics helps with an art of distinguishing the principles that explain what ought or ought not to be done from the perspectives and the facts at hand. Intellectual standards in moral reasoning and judgment as a key foundation of knowledge are critical. Exploring ways unseen The fate or destiny in people’s lives and the unseen forces do manipulate their dealings and undertakings at a certain extent. In the film, Damon Matt is the starring in the specific thriller, the Adjacent Bureau, where he acts as a person who foresees his future, where he realizes that he must try as much as he can to get the woman he loved in New York. The forces of the unseen and the linkage with the ethics and the criminal justice elucidate the need for the exploration of the forces of the unseen. On the verge of winning a seat in the U.S. senate, ambitious David Norris meets beautiful contemporary dancer Elise Sellas, who is a woman who she cherished a lot. On realizing that he is falling for her, men conspire to keep the two separated (unseen). He learns he is up against the agents of destiny which in this case are the men of Adjustment Bureau. The bureau looks at doing everything in considerable power in ensuring that both remain apart. This provides him with choices to make, as in to let her go and give in to fate. In this way, the criminal justice is administered to the individuals and it’s also important to ensure that various criticalities of adjudication of justice in crimes committed are considered (Serge, 2001). Avoiding errors of evidence Evidence is a requirement to argue out certain cases in crime, to give room for legal redress and come up with substantial justice for the same. However, considering all information sources that are available for investigations as a matter of physical evidence, contributes greatly as valuable assets. It stands to be a potential relevance in determination of a case that involves crime so that crime justice can be offered. Errors should be avoided in gathering evidence because they “pollute” and distort the whole information that may play an important role in criminal justice. Errors in evidence may render justice in a criminal proceeding change the course of justice. Avoiding errors in reasoning and judgment In making informed and conclusive judgments, elimination of errors in reasoning is important because it presents chances of critically analyzing the crime committed and considering all necessary provided evidence to make an appropriate judgment. An error in reasoning is referred to as fallacy. Compromise should not be a remedy for erroneous critical thinking where the process of arriving at the judgment raises so many questions. In the Adjustment Bureau, people’s mandates in the film are presented with this aspect but the ethics and criminal justice address all these issues with clarity to ensure that fallacious judgments are not delivered at any one given time. Conclusion The relationship between the movies, Adjustment Bureau and Training day with ethics and criminal justice represent a scenario where some characters in the film acting as the bureau do not give justice as outlined by the code of ethics and criminal justice. This is because important evidence has to be produced and critical analysis of the same done. How David and Elise scenarios are handled show some loopholes in justice and the moral decadence.
