Perception of Females who join ISIS by Young Muslims Perception of Females who join ISIS by Young Muslims Slide One: The Research Questions The primary research question is about how females who join ISIS (Islamic States) are perceived by young Muslims (males/females) aged 18-30 in London. Other related research questions concerning the project include the effects of research on participants, responsibilities given to the members of the research and how to conduct research in high-risk situations. Moreover, the fundamental questions of the study incorporate the type of methodology and literature review used in developing the research. The research also focuses on qualitative, induction and deduction as the primary key questions of the whole study. Furthermore, the transformation of research question into a project develops as one of the main ideas of the research question (Lohlker, 2013, p.12). The research questions focuses on the perceptions of young Muslims joining Islamic states. Moreover, it develops different ideas and concepts that the Muslims have before allowing and incorporating females into their countries to become part of the jihad family. Slide two: pertinent background information about the research topic The research question assists in developing various ideas such as culture, ethnography and history of the Muslim community. Additionally, observation of young females who join the Muslim community and their role within the community discusses within the research questions. According to BBC news, social media attracts women who wish to join Islamic states, since young Muslims offer them with support, helpline, and source of propaganda for Islamic states (Bloom, 2012, p.9). Additionally, young Muslims in the Islamic states view and present this as idealized notions of jihad and love in the Islamic lifestyle (Brown, 2012, p. 2). Moreover, majority of women join Islamic states to join their husbands who are fighting for Islamic states in various countries. Edmunds (2015) suggests that Jihadi brides act as important facilitators in the journey to join their colleagues for different reasons of marriage. Muslims in London perceive these females as online facilitators who coordinate and travel with expat communities since international travel is affordable, accessible, and made easier through planning. Additionally, young Muslims perceive females who join Islamic states as people who were called by Syria men asking their daughters hand in marriage on accounts that male fighters are bombarded by women requests wanting to be their wives. In addition, women are perceived as “baby factories” for the need to populate the purist Islamic states, coursing them to join the male Islamic fighters in London (Farthing, 2015.p. 3). Females enter Islamic states in London since it provides them with new utopian politics to be able to participate in jihad and become part of created new Islamic state. Young Muslims perceive females who join Islamic states as either utter evil or ignorance. Moreover, young Muslims believe that the females are bombarding teenage girls and twisting them into the community while engaging them in ISIS propaganda that distributes via the state of art silicon valley and rising developments in westernization(Crowcroft,2015,p. 2). Additionally, the females who join Islamic states are perceived by young Muslims as teenagers who get the opportunity to be princesses in the Islamic countries, as they are promised fun and love, leaving the females in the ISIS with choices in western world and hell or a chance to have a plane ride to Syria. This shows how young Muslim tend to discriminate and view females who join Islamic states as cheap people whose life interests are very out of order for the love of jihadi male fighters in London. Additionally, ethnography depicts in the research questions since it develops impulses to move with curiosity in the social puzzle to find out how some areas look. Consequently, the move by the female reveals ethnography since sensuous and physical presence allows observation and witness use in five-sense in the recording of unspoken assumptions, social atmosphere and emotional color, when the young Muslims perceive the females when they visit London. All these are ideas that the young Muslims in London develop, while they tend to judge females who migrate in the Islamic states. Davenport (2015) argues that the women who join Islamic states adapt the culture of the Muslims. The Muslims demonstrate their learning by having various ideas, feelings and beliefs towards women who enter their states. Moreover, culture reveals various ideologies within international relations, since a set of techniques adjusts to both the other Islamic men and the external environment when the women enter Islamic states. The history of women entering Islamic states in London begins at the tender age of 18 to 30years of the youth. Besides, the field of the research question takes place in a setting where observation and participation of social life involves both males and females in every situation of the engagements between girls who join Islamic states and the perception of young Muslims. Slide Three: the three authors writing for the research and the benefit of my research work towards their work The study of how females join Islamic states and the perception of young Muslims is discussed broadly by authors Richard Senneti, Dr. Kathrine Brown, lecturer in defence studies at Kings College London, who analyses reasons for western women joining Islamic states. The benefit of m research work is to find the possible avenues of addressing these issues and collaborating with the young Muslims. Moreover, reasons, why Muslims tend to have negative thoughts towards their female colleagues in joining the Islamic states, have also been addressed to the research question. Additionally, my research work assists the authors in discussing the best ways of combating with the situation of females migrating to Islamic states by addressing issues of domesticity and violence. My research focuses on attempts’ to recast movements away from fighters within the Islamic countries, but addressing issues and allowing engineers, builders and doctors to assist in creating pure Islamic states(Kredo, 2015,p. 2). Through the participation of these professionals in addressing the research question, many solutions are developed that assist in addressing females concerns that course them in joining jihad and marrying male Islamic fighters (Lanktree, 2015, p.2). Consequently, my research question helps the authors in the formulation of systems that prevent unnecessary movement of females in joining Islamic states. For instance, females’ great deal in romanticism that forces them into being part of political projects with the version of joining Islamic "real life" is prevented through encouraging girls to join education institutions to prevent them from going to Islamic states to seek education. The idea of girls’ participation in education systems and preventing young Muslims from perceiving them in anyways discusses in my research question through intensive research and solutions dealing with the development of education standards and developments among women. The other authors like Richard Senneti move further and research statistics of female migrations into Islamic states and how the young Muslims perceive them in their actions. Besides, age and gender composition of the labor force and the rate of part-time employment as one of the reasons for females’ migration to Islamic states have been developed by Richard Senneti in his book over the years as shown below. Statistical table for women purposes for migration to Islamic states and young Muslims perceptions The diagram above shows the statistics’ of women of different ages and their involvement in Islamic countries because of age deficiency in labor force and rate of part-time employment over the years. The research was done through qualitative research methods with structured questionnaires’ in finding statistics’ of different ages of women according to gender and age composition. The contribution of the authors in the research question and my research work can be concluded that women join Islamic states because of deficiency in labor force and, therefore, young Muslims perceive the females as those who have not found a chance in the employment world. Additionally, the girls are forced to migrate to Islamic states to seek part time employment opportunities through the influence of male jihad fighters in the Islamic states. Slide four: the methodology that informs my research The method that informs my research include ethnography or participant observation, qualitative interviewing, focus groups, language-based approaches collection and qualitative analysis of texts and documents that address the research question. Ethnography methodology understands and investigates the meaning and behavior of females who migrate to Islamic states. Qualitative research methodology involves structured interviews done on various women who come to Islamic countries to join their husbands in jihad fights and statistical information of different ages who migrate to Islamic states. Moreover, focus groups that inform the research include females and young Muslims in ages 18 and 30 years old in London. The methodology used in informing the research question in terms of language –based approaches include English and Arabic languages to bring understanding and allow for quality and structured interviews in accessing females migration to the Islamic states. Besides, Qualitative analysis of texts and documents informs the research questions as a methodology. Data collected in the fields, based on qualitative approaches and observation gives accurate information on the different levels associated with female migrations to the Islamic states and perception of young Muslims. Slide Five: the methods used to conduct the research The methods used in doing my research includes ethnography methodology, qualitative approaches and field observation, interviews and focus groups and finally studies on the history of Islamic states. Ethnography tends to analyze and understand why females migrate and join Islamic states. Through ethnography approach, developments on violence and romance aspects reveal as one of the reasons why girls join Islamic states (Shelbourne, 2015, p. 2). The understanding of ethnography with women entering Islamic states is that females seek employment opportunities or part time jobs in the Islamic countries, associated with male jihad fighters who later become their husbands as perceived by young Muslims especially in London. Qualitative approaches and observations include the collection of statistics especially of various women and male ages that join Islamic states to seek for part-time employment opportunities in different Islamic states. Additionally, interviews and focus groups concentrate mainly on females and young Muslims aged between 18 and 30 years in London. The history of Islamic states assists as a method of conducting the research since jihad male fighters contribute as the main reasons for female migration to join the males in the Islamic states as perceived by young Muslims in London. Slide Six: how to analyze data in the research The data was analyzed through positivism and post-positivism. In positivism, data was observed, analyzed and measured with the cause and effects studied. Post –positivism analyzing rejects scientific approaches in researching for the social world and instead concentrates on realism that views entities independently of perception and theories in the analyzing of data. Additionally, purposive sampling in analyzing the data was done in units of people, events, settings and periods within Islamic states to determine the influence of females’ migration in the states. Moreover, through sampling population and setting appropriateness was determined by analyzing data. Through these methods, reliability and validity of data were analyzed and quality results were determined by females’ aspect of joining Islamic states. Sampling of the research data assists in developing validation of statistics among different females who enter Islamic states. Besides, analysis of data generates more information and reasons for women migration to Islamic states since all the concepts during analysis of data gives reliability and primary source of information. Slide Seven: ethical issues of research The research questions pose some ethical concerns on the behavior females joining Islamic states and the perception of young Muslims aged between 18 and 30 years in London. One of the ethical issues is concerned with dilemmas presented in conducting research with human beings such as females and young Muslims in London (Shelbourne, 2015, p. 2). It requires well researched ethical guidelines on how human beings need to be treated as one research various concerns with human beings.
