STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESS IN RELATION TO PUBLIC RELATION Introduction Public relation refers to the practice of managing the spread of information between individual or an organization and the public on whom its success or failure depends. Studying public relation helps to sustain effort to establish and maintain good understanding between individuals and organization or organization to organization. Almost all organizations have a public organization department to enhance or strengthen their relationship with the customers.Public relation is the key to effective communication. Objective of Studying Arabic and English Studying Arabic and English allows the public relation practitioner to speak the two common spoken languages globally. Therefore,choosing to study Arabic and English expands the job opportunities for a public practitioner to secure a job of public relation in Arabic and European nations. Moreover, studying of a foundation course that support public relation course helps one to develop competence or experience in publicity. For example, studying a foundation course such as psychology helps to understand how to relate to people under a certain limit that cannot provoke their ego. On the other hand, language barrier is one of the major challenges that affect public relation.My career as a public relation practitioner has been successful because speaking languages like Arabic and English,two of the most spoken languages internationally has helped to be competitive in job opportunities as a public relation practitioner. It has assisted in developing skills such as fluent speaking using foreign languages such as Arabic and English something not common to many practitioners worldwide. Purpose of Studying ICT Modern public relation has entered the “fourth wave” of technological change in the field creating an impact of information highway technologies. Therefore, the demand for ICT literate public relation practitioner in professional of public relation has increased. ICT use has been beneficial to media practitioners such as journalists in gathering and recording of information. Moreover, internet has currently improved public relation through websites such as Facebook that allows the subscribers to socialize from different part of the world at a very low cost. Therefore, being ICT literate has helped practitioners to be successful in their work since it has increased their efficiency to outreach a large number of people locally and internationally. Moreover, a practitioner becomes skillful on the use of language used by different group of people at different occasions such as social language used by youths in social media such as Facebook. Therefore, as public relation practitioners we learn how to relate with our clients via technology and develop skills to handle them without physical contact. Additionally, we learn how to socialize with people hence we are able to relate with them without coercing them with their favorite language. Purpose of a Business Course Studying business course acts as a supplementary course in the field of public relation career.Business course has helped practitioners to integrate themselves with business organizations that currently are adapting e-commerce hence there is increased publicity on the use of ICT such use of internet to reach more customers and expand market performance. Therefore, public relation practitioners are urgently needed to carry the publicity for the business firms through the use of information communication technology since they have adverse knowledge and skills to deal with publicity either face-to-face or via use of internet. Moreover, business salespersons qualified in public relation are able to influence the willingness of customers to purchase their goods. Additionally, they are able to create a good seller to customer relationshiphence expanding relationship between the consumers and the organizations. Therefore, as practitioners, we develop business skills such as marketing that we combine with publicity skills hence we are able to perform excellently as salespeople making more sales for our clients who in return are able to reward for our well-performed work. Objective of Studying Academic Writing Studying academic writing will help a public relation practitioner to enhance his or her expression means via writing. Therefore, he or she will be able to make effective communication through use of word processing and to send e-mails via computer typing. Academic writing will perfect public relation practitioner’s grammar, spelling of swords and the format of writing when performing writing work for their clients. As public relation practitioners, we learn how to communicate with a perfect language to our clients hence developing skills of expressing our self via writing a grammatical language that can be used to give speech to prominent people by our clients such as managers of big organization. Therefore, we become successful in our career as practitioners by integrating grammatical writing to our clients that make them perform well in their intended purpose. Objective of Studying British Culture Culture involves beliefs and values that shape the behavior and thoughts of people. Respecting the culture and traditions of people by the public relation practitioners is considered a moral ethical behavior that is appreciated by the whole society hence public relation is greatly influenced by culture of the people. Public relation ethics are highly regarded as there rules and regulations that are very important in observing context cultures of every community or nation. For example, a journalist receiving gifts is considered as bribery that is unethical conduct in certain nations while it does not mean anything in other nations. Therefore, public relation practitioner needs to understand well the culture and traditions of the society or nations and respect the societyculture. Studying others culture helps public relation practitioners to be successful in their career as it helps to understand how to approach and express oneself to different people according to their culture with respect. As a result, we develop skill of respecting other people’s culture and perseverance as it is challenging task to learn and adapt other people’s culture. Objective of studying how to communicate via Writing Publicrelation requireshaving good writing skills.To be an effective professional as a public relation practitioner one need to understand and deploy the written words effectively. Writing shows the practitioner’s credibility since written word by a public relation practitioner forms a record that is important to a client, a news anchor or a speech to be used by a CEO to an audience on a certain purpose. Putting words in print, whether online or offline is an important step for one’s organization or client because writing encourages accuracy as a critical factor in protecting one’s reputation as a public relation practitioner. Therefore, as public relation practitioners, we learn how to interpret verbal information to written informationhence developing interpreting skills that enhance our communication skills with our clients and the public. Purpose of Studying English at Lancaster University Lancaster University is graded at position nine in the world among the best university offering linguistic courses internationally. Therefore, in job market of public relation industry, a student from Lancaster University has more priorities given to him or her in the job market hence will secure job as a public relation practitioner faster and easily compared to other colleagues from other unrecognized or fairly recognized institutions offering linguistic course. This is because in the public relation industry, qualities such as level of knowledge and skills is highly regarded since in public relation one has to have a fluent speaking skill that can be attained via learning Studying English at Qatar Aeronautical College Studying at Qatar Aeronautical College helps a public relation practitioner an opportunity to secure a job in the field of aviation. Flying an airplane is a serious task and the pilots heavily rely on the person offering direction to them right from their operational place. Therefore, due to the risk associated with their task, the person offering direction to the pilot must be have studied public relation in order to communicate precise and accurate directions to the pilots in a fluent manner to avoid misleading the pilots because of misunderstanding between the pilot and the director giving directions. Therefore, as practitioners become successful directors in giving precise and misleading directions to pilots by developing an important skill in this field such as fluent speaking. Therefore, as public relation practitioners who want to be competitive in public relation industry to secure a job, one is supposed to have skills such as able to speak a variety of languages in a fluent manner, able to read and write to ensure one is effective and credible to deal with professionalism job. Moreover, as a practitioner one should have respect in order to uphold culture and traditions of the people in a community or nation. This will guarantee positive feedback from the member of the society. A public relation practitioner should also have moral ethics because he or she concentrate with publicity hence should associate with the public in a friendly manner. This will influence the public willingness to give a journalist accurate information, on the other hand, a public relation practitioner should be computer literate to enable him or her use information communication technology (ICT) efficiently and effectively, this is because public relation has greatly been enhanced by use of ICT in making communication to outreach large number of people. Therefore, public relation has been spread all over locally and internationally. On the other hand, these job opportunities require on to have the experience.
