(Orwell 1984) It is suicidal to have a diary as there are cameras and microphones all over to spy on the workers. Orwell image of the future describes a boot and its stamping in detail description that sends chills to the pessimistic and optimistic individuals in life. Thos book can change the present society to strive for the better. (Orwell 1984) Orwell portrays good discipline and his Foucault of double thinking which is not restricted by the society in Oceania. In the book, he says that proles are natural inferiors who should keep in helplessness just like animals.
This could be done through the application of minor rules of governance. Double thinking is almost a depiction of how the European enforced their colony on the planet, and the way they tend to dominate economically of poorer countries. In my view, double thinking is seen in women with certain attitudes and double standards. (Orwell 1984) From the smell of cabbage in Winston’s apartment, to the political architecture with powers, the whole range of human experiences is here. Winston Smith is at the center of the novel, where we learn of his strange romance and love life with Julia.
He tells Julia that he does not like goodness and purity. Catharsis and social control is seen as Winston and Julia participate in the two minute hate session. During the film, Winston catches the eye of O’Brien whom he thinks has the same opinion to the regime as his. It is at this point that he realizes his diary is written, down with Big Brother, all over the pages. Winston thinks of double speech after the world war, this because the party took charge of the country, and has constantly changed the history to its own advantage.
In the evening at dinner, Winston meets up with Syme, a philologist who works at the news peak dictionary, a political system. (Orwell 1984) Winston wonders if he is the only thinking person that is not affected by double think. Social control is seen, when Winston’s wife follows the party rule that sex for personal pleasure is against the law, and that one should only involve in sex if they are to bring a new member of the party into this world. These laws made Winston think and went to have sex with a prostitute, simply because his wife was stupid, and she did not fulfill her matrimonial rights.
Winston remembers, Aaronson, Jones and Rutherford who were arrested and confessed to sabotage at their trial. They were pardoned but soon arrested again, and eventually executed. Winston writes his last entry of the diary for the day, by saying that freedom is the freedom which gives a person the right to say that two together makes four. The freedom of speech was clearly a denial to Winston, he and Julia do not talk when they first met on Sunday, as she feared there were microphones all over that could capture what they were saying in the open conversation.
(Orwell 1984) They then retreat to a place where they are not seen or observed by any passerby. Julia confronts Winston and openly admits she in love with him, and that she was simply attracted to him because of something on the face of Winston. Julia is against the party just like Winston, this makes him happy and he foresees the downfall of the corrupt organization in years to come. By the time, the hate week preparations are underway, and Julia meets with Winston quiet more often. She makes him healthier and happy; he is much at peace that he puts on extra weight. O’
