The importance of written communication is lately being realized by professional and corporate organizations with its effectiveness in carrying out communication for transactional purposes. Writing mode differs on the type of the audience that the writer is intending to write for; business writing is for a corporate audience, a medical journal is for the people in the medical field, and so on. Among the number of the types of writing there is, academic writing is regarded as the most challenging one as it involved certain standard and discipline as it will be written for the academic audience.

As mentioned earlier, it was later realized by many professional industries the importance of writing, good writing to be specific in order to achieve a satisfying result they desire. The proof is that despite the emergence of convenient media technologies for easier communication and phasing out preceding forms, writing remains a permanent technology that plays an important role in human society. That is why in colleges today, the emphasis to teach good writing skills is very noticeable; not anymore in English class alone but extending up to science and social science courses.

Multiple-choice tests were being replaced by essay questions, particularly in science courses. The students’ written answers are now the basis of the academic audience with the susceptibility of each student learning skills and how much they have learned towards the course. Who is the academic audience? Academic Audience. Professors and academic instructors are the automatic audiences of academic writing. They are the ones who also assigned the college students of certain topics to write about, logically, the paper should be written for them.

And in order to write effectively for the academic audience, one must know about the nature of the audience and the preference or standard that is meant for an academic audience. So, what does the academic audience want? The academic audience wanted to see the point of the writer’s discussion right there and then just by reading the respective title.
