Introduction
In today’s busy world people want to spend whatever little free time they have in enjoyment and want to make it a memorable one. Club IT is a night club which offers music and refreshments to “people so that they can refresh themselves and make it a memorable one”. (Club IT Website, 2010) This club has been built on a model which believes in innovation and provides different music on different days to attract people. The club has brought about many changes and bringing a change in “IT will bring about a change in workers’ productivity and improve their capabilities”. (Wolpert, 1999) Using IT will enable the Club to come up with new ways to market and will improve their brand. IT will help them to “maintain their clientele and employee base” (Wolpert, 1999) and will ensure that people know more about the company.
Mission and Primary Clientele
Club IT objective is to make people enjoy their leisure time. The mission of the company is to “offer live music, DJ’s, dance space and refreshment that suit the customers’ requirements and seek to establish a friendly relationship where people meet regularly”. (Club IT website, 2010) Club IT eyes both the younger and the elder generation. Their customers are people who are willing to visit the night club for refreshment. They at the same time want customers who are frequent. This will help them get regular customer and decide their business accordingly.
Club IT Information Resources
Club IT works on the B2C model. They provide services directly to the customers. The success of this model is seen by “amazon.com who directly sells book to customers” (Patton, 2007). “IT can be used by the Club as they can upload the photos and pictures relating to their club” (Patton, 2007) so that customers can see those and visualize the effect. Club IT here thus follows the strategy of an innovator.
They can improve their information resources by having data base in place. This will help them “record large data regarding sales, visitors and employees which can be stored and retrieved any time” (Hansen, 2001). This will help Club IT to contact the customers and send them updates regularly. This will also help them to direct their efforts towards prospective customers’. This data base needs to be integrated with the system. This will help in master management of data. Master data management helps folks to “articulate the technology components and integrate the business process with cultural issues” (Wailgun, 2007). This will help Club IT to bring all employees to a common ground. “It will also ensure that the data is not mismanaged” (Wailgun, 2007) and can be preserved for longer periods.
Club IT Innovation
Club IT act as an innovator. They are following this strategy to differentiate themselves. Having a proper website which displays the different music bands on different days along with different refreshments will help to bring innovation. This will make more people visit the club. The club can also innovate by using IT where they display the different dates where they have special programs. This can further be accentuated and made more interesting by creating special blocks for special events. The club can also innovate by displaying the manner they are going to celebrate the special occasion and benefits the customer will get. This will create innovation in this field and help them gain advantage.
Strategies for Competitive Advantage
Data base and e-commerce will increase Club IT customer reach too far off places; thereby making more customers having a look at their offerings. The club will also get the benefit that replace the “traditional bricks and mortar operations and will integrate the operation” (Rainer & Cegielski, 2009). This will make the system more efficient.
The use of internet will help Club IT to “advertise the different music it offers during different months” (Club IT website). This will make the customer and they can prioritize their visit based on the music they want. Having a complete list for a week on the internet will help the customer plan accordingly.
Internet will help Club IT to advertise its merchandise. They will be able to sell more products. Customer using the product will feel part of the group and would like to come under the brand umbrella. Panasonic success can be attributed to this.
E-commerce will help the company to load the photos and reactions from the customer. They can have blogs where customers load their feedback. It will give advantage to both. Club IT will know more about the customer requirements and more customers will come to know about the pleasure experienced.
The club on this basis of photos and stuffs can design their basic layout. “It will save valuable time and at the same time improve efficiency”. (Wolpert, 1999) The company on the days when there are more visitors which they can be retrieved from the data base of visitors can design their club layout so that the customer can fit in.
A proper data base will help Club IT to get information about “customer who is regular visitors and the refreshment and music they listen to” (Hansen, 2001). This will help them design their product for the customer in that way so that the pleasure multiplies. It will also help Club IT to come with new features like certain loyalty programs. This will make customer get something extra for the same amount spend. This will give permanent membership to frequent visitors. These customers can have refreshments at lower rates and visit the pleasure as special passes will be provided to them.
Having a proper system will help Club IT realize the days when the customers are more compared to other days. Special arrangement can also be made relating to the offerings. IT will help them promote their club. The word of mouth will spread fast. This will be possible due to variety of service provided by the club which multiplies the pleasure the customer gets.
Conclusion
Club IT would thus, benefit largely by having an IT system in place. It will be able to articulate its activities in a proper way. Maintaining data bases will help them find regular visitors and also help them identify the target market. This will help them formulate special arrangements to attract more people of similar age groups. They will help them to improve their presence and with the passage there will be more visitors. IT will thus help to retrieve information quickly, promote them and increase their customer base. This will help Club IT improve its business and will make the club more effective.
