THE NEGATIVE IMPACT OF COMPUTER, MOBILEPHONE, AND TABLET USE ON HEALTH Name of the Student Course Name of the Professor University City (State) Date Computers, mobile phones, and tablets have increasing been accepted by humanity as a way of making things easier. A century ago, no one would imagine what would be like having a device such as a computer. Today, man cannot dare to imagine what it would be like to have no computers; it gets used in almost all aspects of the human race. As much as the mobile phones, tablets and computers are significant; they have their negativities as well. In the study, the major focus will be on the adverse effect of Computers, mobile phones and tablets on the health of the users. The study aims at finding solutions to the issues brought about by computers, tablets and the mobile phones. The uses of computers have both the physical and psychological effects; the machines are responsible to as to why some people sit down for long hours without doing any physical exercises. Usually, the body of the human being is supposed to be active with computers for a given time in a day; those who work out their body to keep the body in shape or eliminate any problem that would have come. As a result lack of physical exercises. When individuals take a lot of time sitting with computers, they tend to add weight that is not recommendable; it makes persons slow and at the same time there are chronic injuries due to fat accumulation in the blood vessels; Blockage of blood vessels by body fats can bring serious issues such as the heart attacks. Others problems associated with the long hours of sitting with a computer are headaches, wrist pains, and muscle pains due to fatigue among others (Fouzia, Khalil, and Ellahi, 2011). The brightness of the screen bring about the problem known as the Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS); the symptoms of the vision problem are the eye strain, blurred vision, dry eyes or the headaches (Bhootra, 2014). The computers with the cathode-ray-tube monitor have issues of radiation; they lead to problems such as cancer, miscarriages, and congenital disability among others (Pakravan, 2013). Some computers have harmful chemicals to the human health, and they are not as they were, for example, chemicals such as Cadmium gets found in the coating of the monitors. Direct contact cadmium can cause serious problems to the various body organs, for instance, it damages the brain and the kidneys. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is another issue that is likely to come as a result of using the computers (National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke U.S., & National Institutes of Health, 2012). Symptoms of the Carpal Tunnel Syndrome disorder include weak grip strength; numbness and pain extended up the arms among other problems. Computer addiction is another issue that might magnify the problems mentioned earlier, for instance, spending a lot of time on a computer. The cell phone has some adverse effects on the health of human beings; some problems are like those experienced while using a computer. One is the increased risk of chronic pain when texting and responding quickly. The way people hold the mobile phone while texting or talking determines how an individual is conformable; some people are not careful enough or the right postures while handling cell phones. An individual who knows how to keep the proper positions while dealing with a cell phone is not likely to have backbone arching among other complications. Mobile phone or the tablet can as a channel in which stress gets induced, people fear to chat one-on-one. Cell phones are currently used to converse on matters that party is afraid of directly. The adverse effect of emotions created by the mobile users can lead to stress, which means the health of individuals might get affected psychologically leading to violence, drug abuse or even violence that can result in injuries as a way to handle the stress issues. Like any other object, mobile can contain germs that might render the life of the individual at significant risk of falling ill. Some bacteria can make one ill, especially if the dirt effects on the skin. Another impact of the mobile phone on the health is the increased risk in eye vision as a result of straining on the small screen. The brightness of the display can also cause damage to the eyes of a person. Today, people appear mono-phobia, meaning that they are unable to do away without the mobile phone. The reason why people fail to resist having phones is that of their dependence on the gadget on almost all aspect their life (Ahmed, Qazi, and Khadija, 2011). A phone today is used in carrying out business transactions, entertainment, and socialization through the social media outlets among others. The vibration of mobile phone reduces the brain activities among the drivers, and it explains why some accidents exist. Some accidents are fatal, meaning that cell phones should get handled with caution so as to ensure that drivers on traffic do not compromise the health of individuals. Some people are allergic to some metals found in some mobile phones. It means that not everybody is compatible all the kinds of cell phone. Nickel is one of the most used materials in making phone, and people might fail to understand what is happening to them. Another effect of the mobile is the use of loud music over the ears. When individuals get used to loud music from their phone’s ear piece, their ears continue to lose their sense. The tablets have the same health risks like those discussed above for the mobile phone. Recommendation For the purpose of preventing the problem that gets experience when people stay on the computer for long, there is a need to ensure that is time allocated purposely for physical exercises. Going to the gym or for a run after hours sited on a computer can help a lot in making sure that the individuals are not having pains in their back or any other parts. On the other hand, people should be clean their handset and tablets as recommended by manufacturers of the gadgets so as to kill harmful causing germs. While driving, it is good to ensure that one is not picking the phone; it is through avoiding the picking a call while driving can prevent car accidents (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, 2003). More research needs to tackle the problem of radiation on a mobile phone; it would help a lot the people are well facilitated with non-radioactive devices. For the purpose of protecting the protect the ears from being destroyed by loud music, there is a need to put a moderate volume while listening to cell phones or the tablet ear piece. Conclusion Since some problems are preventable at a personal level, people should get taught on how to survive with the computer, cell phone, and the tablet. Manufacturers should also play their part to produce products that are functioning. The best ways to address these issues to the masses is through the use of Television or radio programs.
