The concepts of business information system are derived from the use of information systems to operate businesses. The concepts of information technology are aimed at smoothening smooth flow operations of a business. It also ensures easy access and management of data. In most business organizations, data is required for the purposes of decision making. The easy access of data ensures that a company is able to make the required decisions at the right time (Rainer, 2009). The efficiency of some of the business operations is also increased through the use of business information systems. In order to fully utilize the concepts of business information systems, some of the requirements have to be fulfilled. The use of the system also requires the services of experts in the field of information system. A proper information technology infrastructure needs to be put in place. Hardware and software forms the basic components of the infrastructure. Proper storage of information is enhanced databases are also essential. The paper discusses the concepts of business information system in relation to a business merger between Contracts landscape and Tina Garden care. Description of the Business The business is a merger between two companies that have been in existence for sometimes. Each of the company has its own method of operations. The concepts of information system used by each of the company are also different from the other. The new business formed after the merger is referred to as amalgamated landscaping and garden care. This is due to the nature of the two businesses which provides different services. The contract landscape deals with the issues of landscaping construction and maintenance. The company mainly works with the government departments and the local councils. The company used to undertake actual construction and maintenance. On the other hand, Tina’s Garden care specializes in the maintenance of private properties. Both companies have experienced personnel in their areas of operations. The merger is therefore for aimed at ensuring that the efficiency of the companies is enhanced. The merge will also ensure that the companies deal with both the public and private facilities in terms of maintenance. The landscaping process will also involve both the public and private companies and facilities. It is thus important to note that the merger of the two companies will require easy access of information from the database of each company (Basden, 2010). The amount of work carried out will also be increased due to the merger and hence increasing the prospects of the businesses. The similarities in the activities carried out by the two companies are important in terms of enhancing the expertise of the new business. Key information require to successfully operate the business The new business merger will require a lot of information from both companies for it to operate efficiently. The information regarding the past operations of the two companies will be required by the new business. These records will enable the development of new strategies required for the operations of the merger. On the other hand, all the data related to the past operations will be incorporated in the new system. The financial information of both companies will also be required for the operations of the new merger for the determination of the amount that each of the company should contribute. The financial records will also determine the amount of profit that will be shared among the two partners and they should be curate and free of any error for the purposes of avoiding any problems regarding finances that may arise in the course of the operations. The concepts used during the decision making process will also be required by the company. This is for the purpose of determining the best concepts to be used during the decision making process. The records of the employees are also an important human resource records that will be required in the operations of the new business. This is because the new business will still be undertaking the same work that was initially being done by the two companies. Expertise will also be required for the purpose of ensuring the success of the new business. The expertise can only be obtained based on the records of the employees of the two companies. Accurate human resource information as well as the financial information is important in the operations of a new business merger (Agarwal, 2005). Information regarding the suppliers of the two companies will also be required for determining the best supplier that should be contracted to work wit the new business. The information of the suppliers also requires a lot of analysis for it to be useful. On the other hand, the information regarding the clients of the company is the most significant. It helps in the operation of the new ventures because the clients play the most important role in the success of the business. The combination of the information of the clients of both companies will be important for the success of the new business. Management information of both companies is also required. This includes the strategies used by both companies during the process of management. The strategies requirements review for the purpose of implementing management strategies. The quality practices used in both companies are also important and should be analyzed. This information will ensure that the new business strives at achieving the best quality practices and hence attracting more customers. The organizational culture of both companies is also important for the purpose of establishing the best organizational culture for the new company. The information regarding the technological use in both companies is also essential in the determination of the success of the new business. This is because technology plays an important role in the business operations in the modern world. The information regarding the use of technology will also ensure that the new business is able to adopt the best technology suitable for the daily operations (Hevner, 2004). Business Information System Requirements The company will require components of the business information system for it to be successful in its operations. The hardware is the one of the components that will be required by the business for it to fully embrace the business information system. The new business merger will therefore require an investment in the computers in every department for the purpose of capturing and accessing the data of the company. The initial costs for this investment may be high but the benefits are more important to the organization. The software is also an important component that will be required by the business venture. The main function of the software is to enable the hardware to process the data. In order to achieve the goals of the business information system, it is important to ensure that the software is in place. Different software will be required by the company during its operations. The diverse nature of the software is due to the difference in requirements for each of the process. The new business will therefore require the software for the purpose of making the operations of the company easy. The management of data will also need specific forms of software for centralizing the database of the company. It is thus evident that the achievement of the business information system requires both the software and the hardware (O'Leary, et al, 2008). A database will ensure that the company achieves the aims and objectives of the business information system. It will basically contain all the important data regarding the operations of the company. An employee is supposed to use the database of the company for obtaining information that is required during the decision making process. On the other hand the company has to ensure that the database of the company can be accessed for easy accessibility of useful information required for the operations of the company. The new business should ensure that all the information regarding the operations of the company is found in a well-managed database. A reliable network is also a major component of the business information system. This is because the network enables a connection to occur between all the computerized machines in the company. The connectivity thus enables the distribution of resources within the company. The new business should therefore ensure that internet connectivity is put in place in order to support the business information system. An appropriate connectivity system should be selected for use by the company for the purposes of increasing efficiency. Procedures should then be established by the new business for the purposes of ensuring that the preferred output is attained by the company. This requires the involvement of experts in the field of information technology. The implementation of the business information system should be done by the experts after all the required components are in place (Lindsay, 2000). Recommended information systems It is recommended that the company adopts different types of information systems for the purpose of achieving the goals and objectives of the business information system. The management information system should be adopted by the company with the aim of dealing with the management issues. The management information systems will enable the company to enhance the management operations. It will also guide the managers in the operations of the company. The decision support systems should also be adopted by the company. This is for the purpose of ensuring that proper decisions are made with regard to the operations of the company. The decision support system will also ensure that the right decisions are made by the company and hence ensuring the prosperity of the company. The senior managers of the company will benefit from the use of the system. Transaction processing systems should also be adopted by the company. This is because the parent companies did not have an effective method of dealing with transactions. The use of the system will therefore be beneficial to the company in terms of reducing the time taken when making the transactions. The accuracy of the transactions will also be enhanced through the use of the transaction processing system. The operations of the employees will also be enhanced through the use of the system when dealing with the clients. It is also recommended that the company should adopt the executive information system. This will provide guidance to the executives of the company in terms of establishing the goals and objectives of the company. The top organ of the company will fully benefit through the use of this system. Conclusion In conclusion, it is evident that the new business will require an efficient business information system. The company will therefore, comply with specific requirements before the initiative is fully implemented. The new business will require information from different departments of both companies. The information is important decision making. It is also evident that setting up a new company requires a lot of information and strategies. The company must invest in the information technology infrastructure in order to attain the goals and objectives of the business information system. On the other hand, the company will also require the services of experts in order to full implement the business information system. The company must also adopt the use of different information systems for the purposes of dealing with different situations in course of operating the business. Proper utilization of the concepts will bring about success in the company.
