It is used for informatics and invented in the early 1800s. They are originally used to control looms and then IBM changed their usage on their own machines. After the invention of the punch card, Christopher Scholes invents QWERTY. It is a key layout. This model was a success and computer keyboard world wide uses the layout that Scholes created. The invention of the DVORAK Keyboard Format was an alternative to the QWERTY keyboard layout. invented in 1936. This format increase typing efficiency and speed. The “layout was designed around the most used letters in the English language” (History of Human-Computer Interaction, n.d.). The invention of the trackball in 1952 was the first computer mice used for location tracking. It was “done during a secret military project by Tom Cranston, Fred Longstaff and Kenyon Taylor. The first system built by the trio used a hard rubber ball like those found in the Canadian 5 pin bowling game. In 1967 first video game” (n.d.) joysticks are invented. These are used in the video game console. which opened a new era in human interaction with computers. The next was Atari 2600 Joystick, which was released with a single button and DE-9 connector in 1977. “Widespread and easy creation of keyboards first appeared with the creation” (n.d.) of the personal computers by IBM in 1981. Which allows easy access to purchasing and usage. “Apple Lisa” mouse was first widely used as an interface device. Which invented in 1983. Although “Xerox was the first to create a system that used the mouse” (n.d.). The release of NES Zapeer in 1985 was used in light gun technology. That detected if a user hit a target, light source on the screen. To go “along with the release of their next-generation gaming console, Nintendo created the Wii Remote” (n.d.) invented in 2006. ...Download file to see next pages Read More

Computer Interaction Part 3a BUTTON DESIGN Touch Buttons in a user interface are like a gateway to enter a whole new dimension or for that matter, a different content. It is probably the most used element in an interface. I learned that a button should have an enticing design that it speaks for itself and that a user will be able to determine automatically that it can be interacted. Moreover, I found out that there are various elements in doing the button design; these are textures or typography, patterns, 3-D, pixel-perfect strokes, indented backgrounds, glows and highlights. When all these elements are taken into great consideration, the effectiveness and design of each buttons...

...Computer Interface Technology... Computer Interface Technology... Computer Interface Introduction The “Human Computer Interaction” is commonly defined as the “discipline concerned with the design, evaluation and implementation of interactive computing systems for human use and with the study of major phenomena surrounding them” (Gaines, 1988). Sensor based human computer interactions can be listed in chronological order of technology advancement as follows; Pen-Based Interaction, mouse & keyboard, joysticks, motion tracking sensors & digitizers, haptic sensors, pressure sensors and taste/smell sensors (Mehrotra & Deore, 2012). User experience can be vastly enhanced by incorporating multiple sensors into virtual environments because people can...

...Computer Interface Technology... Computer Interface Technology... Interface Human-Computer Interface Haptic feedback Before elucidating haptic feedback, it is of significance to define the term human-computer interface. Human-computer interaction refers to the communication, contact, and relations between human beings and computers (Bourg and Bywalec, 2013). It is imperative to note that there have been numerous methodical investigations conducted over the recent past to find out the scope in which computers have been designed to interact with human. These investigations have shown the need for the creation of innovative designs geared towards improving human-computer interaction. Bourg and Bywalec (2013) defines haptic feedback as "The method ...
