Social Network sites interaction In a society, people communicate to one another in an effort to express their feelings, thoughts and ideas. This means that every individual person is a product of the larger society and therefore subscribe to some social obligation. In general a human being is a social being whose behaviour and conduct is considerably affected by the interaction with different environment (Butterfield, 2010). One such important component of the interactive surrounding is communication which is actually the force behind any interactive session. Communication takes different forms which have different effects in the passage of information. The world has recently been going through radical changes in the major pillars of the society. These major factors include the economic, social and political matters in the community setting of the entire globe. One of the major players in the creation of these changes is the emerging technological advancement explosion. This has completely changed the social framework of the society in various ways and among them is the information communication technology. The emergence of electronic media social networking sites has greatly affected the mode of communication (Butterfield, 2010). Examples of the overriding social sites include tweeter, face book and even YouTube. These sites are able to connect many people over great geographical distances across the world at a cheaper cost and a shorter time. However, their effects are slowly displacing the traditional mode of interaction and the resultant effects. In that respect, this paper seeks to discuss the positive and negative effects on the social setup that the E-communication in the social sites is attached to. Traditionally, the most common mode of interaction was face to face, letters and other written materials and audio over electronic devices. The world has over the past decades experienced faster growth in communication of technology which has resulted into the evolution audio to audio-visual mode of communication. Nowadays it easy to interact with a person from another corner of the globe when you are at the same time taking full views of the image. It is also very common to send instant message and receive a corresponding immediate feedback in a process commonly referred to as chatting (Butterfield, 2010). Communication is the act of expressing ones idea to another party and therefore whatever an individual communicates is a true sign of what goes through the mind. It is therefore the mirror against which the thought of a person can be observed. However, for an individual with conscience the demand of the society and the environment of bringing up will have a lot to do with what, where, how and when the communication is being carried out. Communication skills are standard for the entire world population although minor attributes are attached to the micro-surrounding or cultural setting from which an individual comes from (Butterfield, 2010). Some of the behaviors of the people are a product of the personal initiatives to achieve particular goals in life like good command at the language and the desire to have broad knowledge base on language skills. Various tools of effective communication are pre-requisite for expressing the ideas during the interactive moments among people in the entire society. This means that, the method of communication and the mode of interaction has a considerable role in determining the quality of the information and the impact on the recipient. The interaction of people in the major networking social sites exposes people to a collection of information at once and this includes the children and the grownups alike. Take the case of music industry which is one of the major beneficiaries of the social sites through increased advertisement and revenue collection through downloads (Butterfield, 2010). The main problem here is the information that is uncontrollable being aired to the various age brackets with little care. The major problem is the young generation who are exposed to a variety of some otherwise rotten information that is destructive to their future social life. Instances of the young people accesing ponorgrahic materials and other dirty acts on media are one of the mind troubling problems. The development of an individual’s mental and sociological status and the different forms of thought is a gradual process and is subject to such early age experiences (Butterfield, 2010). This is likely to bring a complete change of the social system in the coming generation that also targets wiping out the traditional and most friendly mode of communication. Nevertheless, the current trend in the methods of interaction has its positive and negative sides even to the grownup members of the society. The deeper scrutiny of these advantages and the other side of the coin will give an insight into the new social concepts that are being borne by the rise in preference of Face book, tweeter and the likes. The rate with which the internet usage in interpersonal communication is eating into the society is a matter of concern that should be put into serious brainstorming discussion by the governments, international community and the society at large. Communication through the internet has evolved over time in terms of its usage during interaction between people. The most outstanding scenario is where people who do not know each other completely engage in intimate conversations. It is true that this is a source of entertainment to many people and a mode of linking up in life-time relationships i.e. marriages and employment engagements. The actual point of interest in this issue is how it affects the communication skill and the resulting effect on the overall community (Wright, 2011). On-line interactions provide an avenue of false representation of an individual’s real identity and this defeat the meaning for which communication is meant in the first place. Many cases have arisen where people pass informal and even formal information in poor terms due to the fact that the effect of face to face does not affect them. In respect of this, social sites are not the best bet in facilitating the communication skills of and individual. This affects the ability of one to make good judgements and appreciate creative and critical thinking. The effects of facial expression in an interactive undertaking are almost amiss in this scenario. This is to say that the various non verbal forms of communication are recipe to regulated information dispersion. Take a case where people of opposite sex engage in a marriage bound discussion over a social site. The effect of appearance and reality mix up tends to overwhelm the parties to such contracts. People even end up uploading other person’s photos to lure the attention of the unsuspecting victim into getting into their trap (Butterfield, 2010). It is therefore very open to all and sundry that social sites are imaginary heavens on earth which denies individuals opportunity to make informed choices based on observable facts. This has had the effect of initiating short lived relationships and this has brewed a substantial problem in the marriage institution. A lot of information is displayed on-line which is exposed to all individuals regardless of the age and this is a hurdle for positive growth and development of kids. The confusing mass of information leaves the young people at the mercy of the social sites and the government agencies on what to take up and the don’ts (Harwood, 2011). There need to be a gradual and systematic learning by the young generation such that what is delivered to them is soft, constructive and easy to comprehend. In that respect social sites is a total mess of the younger generation if not regulated and the information is sieved by the media agencies and other stakeholders in the website. Chatting in the social networking sites has equally contributed to knowledge gain. It is now easy for people to answer some questions on issues of current affairs and even contribute to debates on matters affecting the society. In this case, the reasoning ability of people on critical matters has generally improved and is set to enhance the aggregate global convergence in terms of opinions (Wright, 2011). It is worth noting that information is the basic tool of shaping the mind and this has been facilitated by the social sites where people share a lot of information for survival. Many philosophers and ancient scholars have defended the fact that change is a must and no force against it can succeed. The arrival of social network sites is just a fulfilment of this say and the fruits are equally evident. Continuous exchange of ideas through blogs and charts trains people on various capacities of academia world (Harwood, 2011). The role of this should therefore never be under rated because its time bound and requires keen pursuit of all the information on offer. Another challenge that is very open with the widespread usage of the social sites is the extraordinary meeting of people of diverse age groups, ideas and cultural backgrounds thereby offering exposure to people about what goes around the world. Better understanding of the different people is important in equipping individuals with tolerance which is one of the best etiquette for consideration of other people’s opinion. As the saying goes, it is imperative that people act locally but think globally (Wright, 2011). This is a concept that is highly supported by the much talked about social networking sites. In conclusion, the social networking sites have played a greater role in the sociological future of the young people. It is unstoppable but, should be subjected to thorough debating to yield a positive contribution in the language skills. Something of interest that has also been noted is the informal language and accents being used when people are communicating on-line.
