The Disappearing Data Center Question One There are various fixed cost factors that companies need when deciding where tohost their IT systems. Some of these factors are as discussed below;- First, one should consider the navigation and interface of the system. This implies that the firm should determine the ease of and understandability of using the system, how the system can be customized to meet the company’s needs. In addition, it is also of great importance to determine whether the system is capable of meeting the web accessibility access standards.

Equally important, the content production and workflow of the system should be evaluated. In evaluating the content production and workflow, the company should evaluate whether the system offers a fully automated uploading process. In addition, the system should have adequate authentication, access control and administration. The company should therefore examine the authentication options that are available, for instance, whether the system has trusted proxy, good security measures and so on.

Comparatively, should access whether the technology and hosting are fit for purpose and is scalable. The company should determine whether the hardware is modern, reliable, the development cycle of the system, its ease in integrating with other systems and so on. Therefore, in a nut shell, when deciding where to host their system, the companies should evaluate the system’s navigation and interface, content production and workflow, authentication, access control and administration, and the fitness level of the technology and hosting.

Other considerations could comprise of whether the operating system, scripting software and server software meet the purpose of the company.Question TwoMany small businesses are moving towards cloud computing as a way of saving their costs and attaining sophisticated and powerful hardware (Plant 2009). However, there are several issues surrounding moving a company’s data center to the cloud computing. Some of the issues facing companies that have opted for cloud computing include the following;- First, cloud computing brings with it issues to deal with the security of the company’s data transfer.

This is because all the information that travels between the company network and the cloud passes through the and therefore there is a chance that hackers could distort it. Due to this, the management should ensure that their systems are well secured through the use of internet security measures such as encryption, proxy, industry standard protocols and so on.Equally important, the use of software interfaces could be a major issue affecting cloud computing. The use of a weak set of software interface could expose the company to various threats since the accountability, availability, integrity and confidentiality of the company’s information cannot be guaranteed.

The company should therefore learn how the cloud provider integrates security measures and how immune they are to security issues. In addition, cloud computing can be subject to foreign or unauthorized user access control. For instance, the information stored on the server of the cloud providers can be subject to unauthorized access and even distortion by an employee of that company, more so if the company receiving the services has no personnel to oversee what is happening on the cloud’s provider.

The company should therefore consider prudently the sensitivity of the company’s data and chose appropriate and trustworthy employees who have the ability of managing the company’s data. Question Three There are several pressures that evolve from using cloud computing software and therefore it is important that every CEO and board member should be aware of. Some of the most common issues that the management should be aware of include the following;- First, cost is one of the major issue facing organizations that have adopted data plans such as cloud computing.

Due to tight budgets, many data managers and board members are required to emphasize on resource conservation. This factor has made the managers to shrink the employees thereby making them to handle inevitably accumulating data amounts, within short periods of time, which can become stressful.Comparatively, due to the increase in the amount of data storage and processing, security and infrastructure have become a major concern. For these system to operate successfully, there is need for management to purchase backup systems such as generators and air conditioning materials that will prevent data loss in case of a power fail.
