Diagramming Techniques and Visual Image Introduction; There are several diagramming techniques that I can comfortably use and they can easily be understood by everyone else who goes through them. The first one is the structure with trees. This is the best and the simplest to understand. This means that one can comprehend everything on the diagram without getting explanation from the expert. As you check on the tree diagram, you tend to find out that one concept explains the other. Figure 1: A tree structure with its corresponding Warnier-Orr Representation, Reproduced from Martin (1985) To explain my tree diagram that I have used as an example, I can say that “A” is the major topic here. “A” has four branches namely “B”, “C”, “D” and “E”. In other world, in real life, a tree is made up of the main stem and the branches. The branches get support or originate from the main stem. In my example, the same situation ensue, B, C, D and E explain more about A. as you go down the tree, it is clear that branch C and E also have branches. Those are referred to as sub-branches. They explain further on A through C and E. Like I mentioned in the above discussion, this is the most reliable form of diagramming techniques which is easier to explain and understand. The second that I consider my favorite diagramming technique is the dataflow diagram. This example explains how the operation flows from one level to another. The objects that represent data are shown and they obviously relate to the procedure in place. In this case, the diagram is only useful in indicating or rather showing how data flow. It does not require much explanation, in fact if there is any explanation required, it must be very basic. Figure 2: Simple data flow diagram. Reproduced from Martin (1983) The diagram I have used as my example is self-explanatory, a step explains more about the previous. The other major advantage of this format is that there are writings on the side of the arrow; the writings explain what happens between the stages. Lastly on examples, I will talk about my third favorite diagramming technique. The name of the diagramming technique is Data flow graphs. This is a graph which is in other words referred to as directed graph. It consists of some kind of edges. The edges represent the flow of data. It also contain nodes, the nodes represent all operations that goes on in the graph. The diagram below explains; Figure 3: Complex data flow diagram. From Gane (1979) Performing conceptual analysis of visual images My response to the question why we should do conceptual analysis of visual images is that it does well in explaining the point deeper. I will use an example of a classroom environment where a teacher, for instance, is lecturing and giving notes to students in titration in Chemistry (this is just an example to explain my point clearer). On such a situation, we quite understand well that not all students are fast learners. This is to say that different students capture information at their own pace. On this note, when the teacher only uses dictation to give notes, it is only the fast learners with sharp mind who will understand. The rest of the students (slow learners) will remain confused however much they try reading through the notes dictated to them over and over again. My point now comes in when the teacher use visual diagram to teach. On the same example of teaching titration, once the teacher come in class with charts explaining clearly the whole process of titration, I guarantee that all students, whether fast learner or slow learners will develop a fast interest in learning more. This is because the concepts of titration have been indicated on visual diagrams and teaching charts hence after going through them, it becomes easier for students to understand concepts and difficult to forget. In professional fields of work such as architecture, the major skill used to design the magnificent building we see around is the art of diagramming techniques. Coming up with a sketch of an eye catching building is not a simple thing. This is why everybody cannot do it. It requires extra skill to do it comfortably. My conclusion of this entire discussion is that visual images are key to good performance in any situation. It can either work in schools, at work or in day to day living. The concept of Canada and the Old Canadian Lands On the concept of Canada and the old Canadian land, I will focus on significant matters that affect the citizens of Canada and Canada as a country. I will rely much on matters of leadership, government and authorities. First and foremost, after a federal election, the constitution states that the party that forms the new government is the party with the most elected representatives. It automatically becomes the party in power. Like any other democratic country, the party that wins elections is the one that assumes leadership automatically; Canada is hence not an exception, it greatly value democracy and fairness. It hence gains the power to make and amend law for the citizens of the country and rule over the nation. World war is another issue that features in every history of every nation and as such Canada is also included among them. Just to give a rick up of this whole thing, it is evident that more than six hundred Canadians took part in the First World War. Canada had very loyal citizens who would do anything for the love they had for their country. There are a number of laws that governs the country of Canada as a whole, on matters to do with immigration, for instance, if a woman leaves her country and come to live or work in Canada, the law that allows her to compete for a job with a man is the law of equity of women and men. Gender sensitivity is key to the development of Canada as a nation. Unlike other countries, Canada government believes that both male and female have equal chances and ability to do anything. It does not look down on women thinking they are inferior as many other nations do. This has contributed much in development as there is fair competition of jobs depending on chances and qualification of either sex. Like any other nation in the world, Canada has a national anthem. It is a sign of national unity in the country as it represent a particular nation, society and citizens who sing it on special occasions in the country. The lines in the anthem explain much about Canada and its citizens. A line states that citizens should be loyal to the constitution and government of the country and do right as well as living well with others to promote peace and enhance harmony. It states that he or she who follows the rules and regulations of governance as required by the constitution show loyalty to the constitution and obey his citizenship. On a different note, the government of Canada comprises of senators, the senators are chosen by the prime minister and appointed by the governor general. After the federal election, a government is formed with immediate effect. The party that takes over power is one with the most elected representatives. Elections in Canada are carried out via secret ballot, this is to say that citizens are not allowed to tell others who they voted for. Once you tell anyone about this, you are charged of breaking the law and might be sentenced. However, citizens are allowed to discuss how they voted with others, and not who they voted for. Discussing with others how they voted means talking about how the election process was, giving their views concerning the conduction of the elections by the electoral commission and things of such manner. Letting others know who you voted for power realize particular and social contrasts. This is on the grounds that while examining with a companion or neighbor about the competitors you voted for, it is not ensured that both of you will have voted in the same hopeful. Every individual dependably has a motivation behind why he or she voted for their competitor of decision. On that note, while talking about pioneers, there power raises a contention on the grounds that each of them needs their competitor to sound superior to the next. War may later eject as a consequence of the contention and the two may wind up harming one another physically. When you battle, you are viewed as a crook which is against the standards of the nation. This is thus the motivation behind why it is not encouraged to do such a marvel whatsoever. One other great factor that I must talk about is that Canada is a corruption free nation. Many other nations have not developed due to hindrance of corruption. A corrupt nation is a spoilt nation which shall never prosper. There are very strict penalties and consequences of any sort of corruption in Canada. One of them includes imprisonment. This plays a major role in enhancing a corruption free society. Therefore, unlike other countries, once there are job interviews in Canada, for instance, it is clear that interviewees get hired according to their qualifications to the job unlike other countries where people get hired by bribing bosses at job. Many hence end up performing poorly at work because they sit in positions where they do not qualify at all. In Canada, qualified personnel are hired to the job they qualify. Therefore, they perform very well and this contributes greatly to the economy and norms of the entire country. With all these reasons, Canada remains a super power country at all times, if you ask me. In conclusion, I can say that Canada is a developed nation now, not like other countries which are lagging behind. The secret behind all this development is the fact that there is good governance and peace is intact in the country. This is why most of the people migrate to Canada to look for jobs and settle there. A peaceful country is economic friendly; it is easier and safer to work in a peaceful country because you do it with all your heart. You do not develop worries in mind that anything might happen to you as you work harder to build the economy and get richer. Canada has indeed achieved much of what I have mentioned and I rate it among the best nations of the world. It is a country that every other individual wishes to visit, study from there, live there or even work there. Reference Senge, P. M. (2006).
