As far as my future jobs are concerned, I will be most glad to make use of the project management skills at the workplace because this is something that shall come very naturally to me (Deschamps 2011). Hence what I have learned from this quarter is that I need to have a checklist of all the things that are up my sleeves and to make sure that these get done in a quantifiable manner. Also my school days will be carried out in a steady way if I apply myself whole-heartedly towards different tasks and objectives, and stop worrying about things that are least significant (Eve 2007). In the end, I will summarize my commitment towards everything in life which needs to be managed well – both from a personal as well as a professional ...Download file to see next pagesRead More

Lessons learned from Hurricane Katrina

...?What lessons should be learned from the government’s botched response to Hurricane Katrina? Hurricane Katrina will be remembered as one of the most embarrassing episodes of governance failure. This failure is palpable in both the lead-up as well as the aftermath of the event. In the lead-up to the event, local administrators could not act expeditiously in evacuating vulnerable populations to safer ground. After the event, authorities were overwhelmed by the ensuing chaos and their efforts were inadequate in providing relief to those distressed. The least government agencies can do now is to recognize areas of deficiency so that disaster management efforts in the future are better executed. The following passages will outline some... of the...

Vietnam War: Lessons Learned

...?A very little known fact has been that it was the United s itself that initially gave military training to the small communist group in Vietnam, named Vietminh led by Vo Nguyen Giap and Ho Chi Minh, for fighting against the Japanese invaders (Westheider, 2007, p.1). For imparting this training, a small group of American military men were smuggled inside Vietnam via air under the aegis of Office of Strategic Services which later became CIA (Westheider,2007, p.1). This has been indicative of the greatest anomaly in American history- America had supported rebellious groups all over the world against invasive or even national governments but later on these very groups turned into threats against the US. This could be seen when looked...

Lessons Learned: Geopolitics

...?LESSON LEARNED Lessons Learned Discussion Forum Geopolitics The Louisiana Purchase led to an end of last battle between France, Spain, and United States of America. The deal enabled France to gain the funds it needed to run her economy. The previous alliance between France and United States of America was seen as the most lucrative real estate deal in history, which resulted in the increase of US borders down the Mississippi river and increase in trade routes. On the other hand, France wanted money for war against Britain. The Louisiana deal was the answer to these queries (Hansen 44, 1997). The acquisition of Louisiana helped United States in that it played the role of...

...Lessons Learned on Academic Writing Effective Writing What gives life and rhythm to prose is the variety in sentence structure and length (Purdue OWL, 2008, para 1). Continuing the prose in the same tenor, with sentences of the same style, structure and length makes the reading dull. It is also important to keep the tone of the writing scholastic. Long sentences can be used to convey a lot of information and short sentences to stress a point. Starting sentences with different opening words will help to hold the interest of the reader. Unity, coherence, a topic sentence and adequate development are the different features of a paragraph (Purdue OWL, 2007, para 3). Unity is the focus on a single idea. Coherence is the intelligibility... ...

As a politician, numbers are more important than anything else because that is what determines their political influence. It also shows their degree of fame. However, in this paper, I will look into the achievements of Elizabeth Grace Neil and how she successfully made use of numbers to yield some of her achievements. Elizabeth Grace Neil was a New Zealand Nurse born on 26th May 1846 in Edinburgh. She was a daughter to James Archibald Campbell who was once a colonel of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders as...

Lessons Learned From War

... Lessons Learned From War There are numerous reasons why nations go to war including economic, religious, territorial, and political issues. Stoessinger takes a historical look into why different nations went to war and how problems such as economics, and politics issues had an impact on the outcome of each war. In his book, he explains eight different cases of why nations choose to go on war. The reasons why nations go for war vary from one country to another, but the lessons learned are closely related and to some extent generic. It is said that those that fail to earn from history are condemned to repeat it again or even get worse experiences. This paper will...

...Lessons Learned al Affiliation Lessons Learned What went well in the project? What could have gone better? The project went satisfactorily well due to the fact that the goal of the project was explicitly defined; the roles and responsibilities of the each of the members were also clearly defined; the tasks were equitably divided; and monitoring of group progress is noted to be undertaken, as required. In any group work, the performance could have gone better through elimination of barriers to communication. Some factors that apparently delayed some phases in the group project was due to ineffective communication patterns: misunderstanding, inability to immediately...

Throughout their entirety, I acquired knowledge that improved both my understanding of the course and perspective of the world.
