ZARA CASE STUDY by Improvement of Zara throughIT The first point of concern that is presented is by the reservation that Zara have in the adoption of inventory management software for their specific stores. Choosing instead to have the different store managers physically count the inventory to make a determination of what is present and what needs to be replaced (Mcafee, Dessain and Sjoman, 2007, 5). Inventory software at the different stores will improve the ease by which they get to handle store specific inventory.

It will also reduce the time needed to do the necessary stock taking for the specific stores. This system will also minimize the errors that may arise from human intervention with such kinds of systems as those they are utilizing at the moment. This inventory system can be easily integrated into the already existing infrastructure (Ray, 2011, 568). The other factor is that they needed to upgrade from DOS to a more current operating systems. This is from the fact that the current systems would support a larger specter of devices that would make the management of each store more efficient and effective.

A good case in point is the replacement of PDAs with more modern tablets that carry an increased number of functionalities and can run on many networks at the same time. This will save on the cost of having to constantly connect the stores to the internet. They also allow for increased portability. The major consideration is that with time, advancements in technologies are changing at a faster rate than before. Minimizing the time it takes to bring products (both hardware and software) into market (Garson, 1999, 43).
