System Analysis Describe the elements of the DIK construct and the OODA Loop to include their points of interaction. DIK Construct The DIK construct is composed of three elements; data, information, and knowledge. The DIK construct can be articulated in six concepts divided into two groups of three. The two categories are the subjective domain and the universal domain.i. Subjective DomainData: These are the sensory stimuli that human beings can identify through their senses.Information: These are meanings of the sensory stimuli that can be perceived by man.

Knowledge: This is a thought in a person’s mind that is characterised by the belief that the thought’s correctness can be proven.ii. Universal Domain In this category, the elements of the DIK construct are human artefacts represented by signs that people can sense using their basic senses (empirical signs). They can be represented in a variety of ways including light beams, printed or painted words, digital signs, or sound waves.Data: They are sets of signs that represent perceptions and empirical stimuli.

Information: These are signs used to represent empirical knowledge.Knowledge: These are signs representing the meaning of thoughts that individuals believe are true, and whose authenticity they can verify. OODA Loop The OODA loop is a decision making mechanism involving four stages; observation, orientation, decision making, and action. The process occurs in a cycle that recurs. Chet Richards suggests that a decision maker who has the knowledge and ability to process the OODA cycle quickly while identifying and reacting to the issues that arise, is likely to circumvent his or her opponent’s decision cycle; hence, give him or her an advantage over his/her rivals (27).

Interaction between OODA Loop and DIK Construct The OODA Loop is instrumental in the conversion of records into information and subsequently into knowledge. Decision makers need to have a good understanding of what data represents if they are to be able to transform it into useful information; this information can then be used to impact knowledge into individuals. This can be done by analysing data, and information using the OODA Loop. The person studying the data analyzes it, orients it to filter information, makes a decision, and then acts based on the decision he/she makes.2.
