Gadgets and Gaming: Difficult Choices Being a gamer is really tough especially that the current market presents so many options like the Xbox 360 with Kinect and Playstation 3. Console games have been rampant for decades. Most of the time, these consoles have been part of the childhood for those who know these. What seems to be unique from both of these consoles that make gamers have a difficult time to choose which one to take? Two technological giants are competing with these two options: Sony Entertainment for the Playstation and Microsoft for the Xbox Gaming System.

The best way to describe this two, based on experience of the gameplay and the games, is that Sony is quite mainstream while Xbox is quite hipster. Even though both of the consoles seem to be top priorities in the gaming market, the Sony Playstation 3, in my opinion, is more famous and chosen compared to Xbox 360 Kinect. Sony Playstation 3 evolved from its predecessors PS1 and PS2. This console keeps that traditional console gaming where there is still a controller needed to play games. Most of the time, role – playing games, actions and adventure games are the best genres to play.

At the same time, the person who plays just have to sit on a couch, think about the game and tap. To be fair, the game is a good way to exercise hand to eye coordination. On the other hand, Xbox 360 Kinect revolutionized the world of gaming by removing the controllers and substituting the body of the player as the controller. Adventure games are part of said system. However, most of the games are motion based. From hand to eye coordination of traditional computer gamin, the Xbox made it body to eye coordination: the whole body of the player speaks for the outcome of the game.

Xbox, with its inclusion of Kinect, makes gaming productive as well since it also aids as an exercise device that can allow people to have fun while keeping their bodies in tip – top shape. This feature or perk is something that is not present in PS3 since its major selling point, traditional console gaming, is still intact and not fully reinvented yet. When it comes to salability in the market, PS3 still dominates it since most of the games that it bring out to the market are already well – known like the Final Fantasy series, Resident Evil among other.

Xbox 360 Kinect seems to be highly valuable due to its invention of the game Dance Central series among other games it has developed. It appears to be its most celebrated game and becomes highly popular nowadays. When it comes to perks and amenities, both of the consoles are becoming more accommodating where data of the game can be stored unlike before where most of the games must be purchased in order for it to be played. Even though this is still apparent until now, new methods are implemented, which indicates that both companies are responsive and trying to compensate the fast – paced, highly technological world we live in nowadays.

What makes choosing difficult? It is because both gadgets are good in their own right and in their own domains. Xbox 360 is good with its adrenaline rush games while PS3 is more adept with its mind blowing strategy and mind games. Which one to choose? If given the chance to have both, why not get both? At least there is enjoyment and fun. Just keep in mind that one must play in moderation. That is still the most important thing to remember whenever one is dealing with this console. Entertainment and fun is sure to be so much with these consoles at hand.

Xbox or Playstation 3? You decide. There is no right or wrong answer.
