UNIX being the oldest operating system of all, was created to work only on large computers and mainframe, few people use it because it is hard to use and costly. It had low processing power, which was used in improving better interfaces. However, Linux was created with just one common user in mind and a highly capable GUL that consumes processing power.

Comparison and Differences between Unix and LinuxUNIX is used in internet servers and workstations while LINUX is used on personal computers.Linux is a convenient desktop OS while UNIX lacks the user friendliness needed for general computing. UNIX is planned to make mainframes and high quality computers which cannot run on MOS, while Linux can go from mainframes downwards to low quality personal computers.UNIX is property owned while Linux is for many individuals using the Licensing of the GNU (Joan, 2011).

Topologies and Ethernet StandardsTopology means frame of connected devices, these are in four categories, ring, bus, star and mesh. They are suitable for LAN connectivity hence Ethernet protocols are family of LAN, The two types of Ethernet standard is half-duplex and full duplex. Data is transmitted via CMSA/CD protocol on shared media. Since the Ethernet standard is used to increase the connectivity distance, it is better than topology in the current modern world (Joan, 2011).

Network HardwareAs an example, When NIC is present, data flow is possible and vice versa between the networks of NIC. Here, the card has ports called RJ45 port whereby the port makes the transfer of data possible to and fro’ other networks, since the data can be hacked easily, the data transmitted is not secured.
