Number: Global Warming: Myth or Reality Global warming is a controversial issue. We heard both sides of the story, one of them is telling us the peril linked to it and the other side informing us that we should not worry about it in the first place for it is non-existent after all. In other words, we could hear stories about it that at some point informing us that it is a reality and a myth on the contrary. It is the purpose of the work at hand to expound on this issue and in the end; the proponent provides the required argument proving whether global warming is either a myth or reality. As already stated there are two opposing sides involved on the issue of global warming. There are global warming alarmists and sceptics who have essential stories to tell to the public about what they know based on a scientific point of view. Concerning this, the battle is within the issue on how reliable the evidences are and up to what point science could support what the two opposing sides have scientifically presented. When we try to employ scientific methodologies and scientific information, we know that we present things as objective and exact. There is no question about this. However, the thought that the two opposing sides are both using scientific investigations and scientific concepts, but led to varying conclusion is a significant point that we need to take into account prior to our consideration of global warming whether it is a myth or reality. The scientific community is very eager to learn more about the global warming, but the thought that this phenomenon points out the peril associated with carbon dioxide emissions has received substantial reaction from the corporate world. We know that international factories, car manufacturers and other relevant establishments with strong link to the idea of green house gas emission, at some point, would substantially react to the proposed plan of the global warming alarmist to alleviate the reported hazard associated with the global warming phenomenon. After all, their findings have substantial political and socio-economic implications as the government should have to initiate policies in order to protect the environment in the first place. However, as the corporate world is after of maximizing profitable gain, policies that could hinder such objective are undesirable for them and so they have to make ways in order to make sure that they could operate at the most optimum way. Let us look for instance, why the US did not sign the Kyoto Protocol. The economic activities in the US should never be disrupted, as they are lifeblood of its actual socio-economic and political status in the world. For this reason, Bush did not sign the Kyoto Protocol as it is costly and a threat to the US economy for it might lead to lost of millions of jobs (White; Reitze 426). Therefore, the ability of some major companies to be hesitant to initiate the actual policies provided by the international groups which were concerned about the issue of global warming could be an actual proof that the issue of global warming is inconvenient for them. However, global warming alarmists continue to pursue the idea that global warming is such an inconvenient truth, that it is now time for the government to initiate move that will ensure reduction of green house gas emission (Dinocer, Hepbasli and Midilli 203). Sad to say, the corporate world will have to initiate a very tough adjustment for this matter. Such adjustment might also lead to various economic adjustments in the first place, just as what the US clearly feared. It is therefore normal to hear reactions coming from the corporate world that would claim that global warming is only a myth. According to a review of the debate on this issue, nearly all of the global warming skeptics are businesspersons who are trying to eliminate the possibility or the truth about the global warming (Arnold 3). Their edge in doing so includes the use of scientific justifications that would help them prove their claim. Now, the scientific community is in the middle of controversy and strong issue regarding the exactness of the science linked to global warming. We still need to acquire more information for us to see clearly in detail about the exact truth associated with global warming. However, even if various point of views that at some point would contradict concerning the existence of global warming are involved, the two sides debating on this issue have significant points of justification, as far as the scientific principles are concerned. Concerning this, since there is science involved in the actual investigation process, we can completely say that there is at some point a hint of reality about the issue of global warming. The point that we need to settle on this issue is on how the scientific community tries to elaborate the point of justification. It is just a matter of finding fault in their arguments or the used methodology because we know from the background we just presented earlier that there are some socio-economic and political issues linked to global warming. This gives us that idea that we just need to understand further the methodology used by both parties regarding how they come up with the information that strongly substantiates their respective scientific claims. In one way or another, this leads us to the point that there might be a reality associated with the idea of global warming as depicted in the case of two contradictory parties trying to prove something scientifically about the phenomenon. In the first place, it is clear that there is political and socio-economic issues involved in here and that could be depicted in the point where major business groups are trying to adhere to the point of global warming skeptics. Due to these issues, we could generate a strong stand that at some point, there might be linked reality on the issue of global warming. The very strong basis of this claim could be linked to the point that emancipating change in favor of the claim of the global warming alarmists could be costly when employed in the realm of business.
