I.T. Strategy for Apple Company Apple Company is based in U.S.A, in the of Cupertino that is California (Lusted, 22). The company concentrates on development, design and marketing personal computers. Other products include portable music players and electronics. In addition, the company develops software, gives networking solutions to its clients, and provides third party applications. The company chiefly conducts its operations in the U.S, but with opportunities emerging in other countries, it has established headquarters in Australia, India, Hong Kong, Ireland, Canada and Singapore (Lusted, 22). It aims to continue expanding its market from its regional Headquarters in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This information is the start off point in development of an Information Technology strategy that will enable the company to establish and operate at the regional office in Brazil. The technology strategy is a framework that helps in managing technology oriented businesses like Apple Inc. The Brazilian economy is reputed for better performances than that of other economies in the South American Countries. The economic stability of the country is improving in all aspects, having grown at the rate of 7.5% in 2010 (Baer 76). There is more investor confidence in the country and the sector of technology which fall under communication is also developing. The choice of Rio de Janeiro is attributed to the growth in the country economy and thus a growing market for Apples products. Rio is the second largest city in Brazil and it’s the capital of Brazil. With its population and its economic viability, it is a perfect location for the new regional headquarters. The company’s customers will include the students, professionals and companies who are many in the country of Brazil. The country is also said to receive many visitors which will also ensure the company’s product has a larger market (Baer 78). The role of Apples regional office in Brazil will be an advocate for the company’s products on behalf of Apple. The office will be responsible for the distribution of the company’s product in Rio. The products will range from its Mac, to I pad, iphone, apple TV and other products. It will give people in Rio a closer customer experience with the establishment in the country. It will conduct consumer education on its product on behalf of Apple in Brazil. It will also give the company, the feedback on its products and the market trends. The office will conduct research on the market in Brazil and provide a feedback to the main office. It will monitor the trends and respond accordingly when necessary. The regional office will work together with the management of the headquarters to discuss on how to improve the products with the results of the research conducted in the specific country. The regional office will also be charged with the responsibility of finding employees of the company The company’s mission, vision statement will also be in line with the company’s interest. It will also find ways to deal with the competitors in this specific market. The mission will be in line with the headquarters mission so as to ensure the retention of brand uniformity and identity. The mission statement will be to take innovation to a level that will increase the performance of human resource to improve on the system and structure stability. This particular mission statement is derived from the main mission statement mentioned in the company’s main office. The mission statement should be followed and executed to ensure the success of the company being developed. The regional office should also be reflected in the regional office in full. The vision statement refers to the aims of a company. It summarizes the goals of a company and it forms the basis of the establishment of the company and its continuity (Lynch 372). It is an illustration of the company’s commitment to provision of better products and services. The vision and mission statement shows the direction the company wants to take. By having a motivating mission and vision statement the company is likely to attract and maintain potential employees towards the company’s common goal. The two statements communicate the values and purpose of the company. They will act as an inspiration for the employees and will help the customers understand the benefits of buying from the company. The company alignment with its corporate strategy will ensure that the execution of tasks is in line with the organizations financial and strategic goals. The company will make decisions based on concrete information, which will be relevant and up to date. Having the correct information will enable the company leaders make decisions that are in line with the corporate strategy (Lynch 352). This will provide guidelines to be followed when carrying out projects. The regional managers will ask a few questions when carrying out projects to ensure they are in line with the corporate strategy. This will be inclusive of whether the project is in line with the vision and mission statement. They will also apply similar questions to their tasks and ask themselves whether the risks outweigh the benefits and whether the risks in line with the firm’s objectives. All these will facilitate the new regional office to stay in line with its corporate strategy. The two goals of Apple Company are to make provisions of innovations that are friendly to the environment and useful at the same time. The company is gearing towards reducing the products carbon footprint to ensure a more environmental friendly solution. The other aim is also to make creative ideas become great innovations. The firm will also aim at achieving customer satisfaction and increase on performance with its range of products. The company has made excelled over the years, in promoting its products. It has also continually developed new products that are relevant to the market. This internal capability will reflect on the firm’s performance in the regional office. This will give the company a competitive edge. Apple Inc. has already established itself as a brand with the range of products that it provides. All these, are benefits that will bring positive attributes to the regional offices. They also act as a strong point for the company. Its ability to raise funds has already been established and this will help the company grow. There are numerous law suits that the company has gone through. The series of legal battles concerning patent rights have been a threat to the company. The most prevalent legal problems are between Apple Company and Samsung. The products in contention include the Ipad and android system. In some countries, legal suits have resulted in the company being ordered to withdraw its marketing of key brands. The war may also manifest itself in the new regional market which will be a major external threat to the success of the company. Hence, the market in Brazil should be viewed as a golden opportunity for the company. There are numerous universities that will provide the avenues to sell the products. There are no major weaknesses that are likely to have an effect on the company. Thus, the company will be able to sustain its business operations. The organizational structure for the company will show how the company is coordinated and controlled. This will show the firm’s authority and will depend on the organizational objectives and the strategy. There will be decentralized, structural system because the company will be handling different products and in different geographical locations. There will be high value of group work and coordinated efforts to ensure the company is successful. The branch manager will be in the highest position at the company. The supervisors and employees will flow next in line. There will be person in charge of consumer education, sales executive which include software sales and hardware sales, customer care department and each field’s engineer. In conclusion, the strategy will help in development of models that will enable the company deal with patterns, competitors, market change and the company’s capability. Hence, this will ensure the business established in Brazil grows continuously. As aforementioned in the introduction, investors are more confident investing in a state which is stable, developing and host a large population. Rio de Jainero is a city that qualifies in providing these crucial attributes. The demand for products that are of high quality and at the same time at affordable is high in this city.
