Running Head: EISA: Knowing What the Related Disciplines Bring to the Table EISA: Knowing What the Related Disciplines Bring to the Table goes here Professional Specialization Name of your professor Date Knowing What the EISA Related Disciplines Bring to the Table Enterprise Information Systems Architecture (EISA) is a multidisciplinary architecture. It is a structural design that provides a platform to integrate multiple disciplines and information systems for information interchange among scattered organizational units and business partners.

However, the disciplines of information science, library science and computer science offer particular areas of interest to Enterprise Information Systems Architects. This is because an enterprise system many contain one or more business systems, information systems and supporting software systems including application and system software. This renders the architectural design of EISA a phenomenal activity that requires vision and expertise at their best. Papadopoulos, Gregory & Wita (2009) observe, “The first design decision in the development of an enterprise system is the choice of its architectural style.

The development of a whole enterprise system is rather an exceptional case.” The role of multiple disciplines that contributes in the architectural design is pivotal in the final shape of the EISA that rolled out at a later stage of implementation. Therefore, the knowledge of each discipline along with what it has to offer to the overall architecture of EISA is rather a complex question. Moreover, each related discipline is further expandable which makes the design decisions for EISA even more complex.

The Computer Science discipline for example, has to offer a number of technologies, subsystems and sciences that can contribute in the design and development of an Enterprise Information System Architecture. Communication technologies studied under the discipline of Computer Sciences enables EISA architecture to be a global solution that can integrate with any other existing information architecture. Similarly, Information Systems designed, developed and maintained by businesses lays the foundation for the EISA.

Because various aspects of operational readiness for businesses are linked to information systems viability, reliability and security, businesses keep these ISs technically sound and updated. New technologies are integrated as and when required and this in turn inducts technology in existing or future Enterprise Information Systems Architecture. “A software solution is either the architecture of a new application which supports at least partly a new business process or the architecture of an existing application which is enhanced in order to take into account the modification of an existing business process.

” (Guetat & Salem, 2011). Other information sciences and Library Sciences also offer considerate support in designing the basic architecture for EISA. Enterprises use these sciences in the fields of communication, knowledge management and strategic planning for their businesses. The EISA architecture rely heavily on communication architecture that an organization can access. Moreover, the secure transfer of information utilizes the encryption and authentication technologies as well as the establishment and maintenance of secure and encrypted communication channels for EISA infrastructure.
