Oracle Corporation has its headquarters in Redwood City, California, in the United States and has its products being sold worldwide. The company usually produces telecommunication equipment like oracle applications, databases, enterprise manager and other computer software. Currently, the company employs a total of 122,458 employees around the world. In terms of its revenues, the company ranks among the top 300 companies in the World with highest revenues. Reports indicate that the company has been gaining an increased market share, judging by its previous revenues and in comparison to its competitors in the telecommunications market. Currently, Oracle Corporation faces stiff competition from Microsoft Corporation, VMWare Inc, F5 Networks Inc, Ultimate Software Group Inc and SS&C Technologies Holdings Inc. Microsoft Corporation is currently the leader in the market with a market capitalization of $ 394,090 million, and a net income of $ 21,370 million in 2013 and Oracle Corporation comes in second. Currently, Oracle Corporation has a market capitalization of $187,931 million and a net income of $10,948 million. The good performance could have been triggered by proper human resource management in Oracle Corporation [Edi09]. Human Resource Management (HRM) entails balancing the resources of the corporation. The available resources are people and processes and the Human Resource Management working towards providing the optimal ratio to enhance the best achievements for goals and strategies in the organization. The Human Resource Management integrates the wide range of culture, ideas, and products with the human resources available to achieve maximum potential of the organization [Mic06]. Two areas of the Human Resource Management (HRM) the company is strong in Benefits and Compensation Understanding that of the employees are the most important people in ensuring the success of the company helps corporations to ensure that their welfare of the employees. The quality of goods produced and services offered by the employees are highly determined by the quality of benefits and compensation that the employees receive from the company. The Human Resource Management should ensure that they provide their employees with flexible working hours or workdays. When they are given breaks at work, they can relax and by the time they return to work, they are energized and provide more output. Similarly, the Human Resource Management should also provide the employees with award & recognition programs to identify personal contribution by the employees and encourage a competitive working environment in the organization. Other benefits and compensation that the Human Resource Management. Other benefits for the employees that Oracle Corporation has been encouraging include extended vacation time, paternity leave or childcare, corporate gym membership discounts, medical/dental insurance, continuing education/skills development and award and recognition programs [Rob131]. Recruitment and Legal Compliance The workforce of Oracle Corporation is vital in determining the types of products and services that they provide to their consumers. Similarly, recruitment in Oracle Corporation could also be in the form of other resources. A great size of attention needs to be required to attract and retain the well experienced and well-motivated workforce. Oracle Corporation has recruited experienced and committed employees. Training and development of the employees is a vital function of the corporation since lack of training only brings in frustrations among the employees. Training eases communication and information sharing for better resource management thus should be upheld in each institution [Mic06]. Legal compliance entails companies safeguarding their continued existence and operations to the public through compliance with the already existing labor, tax laws and other employment laws governing the organization. The Human Resource Management of Oracle Corporation has to be observant with the employment practices, tax allowance, minimal wage and any discrimination policies that may exist. Professional development Professional development has been underperforming for the corporation. Opportunity for growth has not been encouraged for Oracle Corporation. Leadership training such as seminars, career advancement training and training on social responsibility are the variables for growth that have not been keen for utilization by the Oracle Corporation. Professional development is vital in ensuring that there is success in the corporation.
