The report will provide a summary background of du telecommunications. It will outline the recruitment and selection strategy to be adopted and the execution process of the recruitment and selection plan. The report will give an adequate description of the available job and the job specification and how the two relate to define the kind of candidate the company is looking for. It will highlight the interviewing process from the screening process to the final selection of the ideal candidates. This will be exhaustively covered under appropriate subsections. 2 Background of the report This is an original recruitment plan for Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company commercially known as du. The company offers mobile and fixed telephony services in UAE, broadband connectivity, IPTV services to homes and businesses all over the UAE. It also offers other related services such as satellite services for broadcasters. The company has a workforce of over 2000 employees from over 60 countries around the world. Over 50% of the senior management team and customer facing staff is from UAE which is a deliberate action to develop skills and knowledge in the local population (Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company | du). The company has more than 6 million mobile subscribers, 0.5 million fixed line subscribers and over 180, 000 home subscribers. The company was named the best mobile broad band network in the Middle East and Africa. The company’s vision is to enhance the life of its clientele, anytime, anywhere. Its mission is to delight its customers, be the employer of choice, create value for its shareholders contribution through innovation and contribute to the transformation of the communities it operates in. its core values include friendliness and honesty; they guide the company’s actions (Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company | du). du states through its website that its commitment as a company is to be the employer of choice, bridging the gap between cultures and nationalities in a changing world. The company commits to offering a favorable environment in which employees potential can be realized their talents flourish. The company cares so much about employees’ welfare such that it has in-house clinics, restaurants, free sports recreational facilities including gyms and swimming pools (Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company | du). 3 Human Resource Strategy du commits to offering employees an opportunity to develop their talents and realize their potential and in effect benefit the company as a profit making organization that relies on employee creativity and innovation to deliver value for investment to its shareholders (Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company | du). To do this du will use available resources to get the most talented and passionate employees to hire. du will use the mass media and its website to advertise available job position. This will increase the pool from which du can recruit talented and competent workforce. With a wide pool it is possible to get a big number of applicants increasing the chances of getting the most qualified person for the job. du will use a panel of qualified interviewers to assess the competency and qualification of the prospective employees in relation to the values and mission of du as a company. Of course all the recruits will not be considered for the job and as such the interviewing panel will have to settle on a strict screening process to identify the few who will be shortlisted for the interview. The screening will be done through telephone calls to applicants who meet the basic threshold by a team of three employees in the human resource department under the guidance of the senior vice president-human resources. The next stage of the screening will involve physical appearance of the applicants. Some of the documents that will be sought are authentic degree certificates in information technology or related field, recommendation letters, and personal identification documents. The team will also look into the experiences of the recruits to make sure they fall within the required years of experience. 5.5 Short listing of the applicants The applicants that pass the screening stage will proceed to the short listing stage so that those who pass the short listing stage can be interviewed by a high level interviewing panel. The types of interviews that will be used here include; Panel interview This will be done by a team of five trained interviewers drawn from multiple departments of the organization three from strategic planning department and human resources department. Case interview This involves giving the employee a case involving a difficult situation that requires good decision making ability to analyze the problem solving ability of the employee. The panel will also be able to see how the prospective employee communicates ideas in front of panels. Stress interview This will feature a range of questions meant to make the interviewee uncomfortable to analyze stress handling ability especially on the job. A few tactics will also be used to put pressure on the interviewees to bring out the hidden character in them in relation to pressure handling ability. Peer group interview This will probably be a small meeting between the prospective employee and a number of prospective future colleagues at the firm. It helps to determine how well the employee can fit in with the group as noted by Bambacas and Patrickson (105). All these interviews shall be coordinated by the five member team under supervision of the senior vice president –human resources. 5.6 Choosing Top Candidates Apart from the above stated interviews, the candidates that shall successful fulfill the requirement sought by the four interviews will proceed to face a high level interviewing panel that will include the senior vice president-human resources. The three member panel shall be looking for passion for working at du in the candidates and also how well do the candidates understand the vision, mission and core values of the organization and whether they fit ion with them.
