The paper “Impact of Training and Development on Employee Performance at Qatar Petroleum” is an engrossing example of human resources research paper. Training and development is an important feature for organizational growth and success. So, many firms are seen to spend a huge amount of money on training and development needs. This research aims to analyze the level of training and development existing at Qatar Petroleum and accordingly study its impacts upon organizational efficiency.

A major shortcoming faced while conducting this research was the unavailability of adequate data. Although sufficient information was collected regarding existing training and development programs at Qatar Petroleum, there still was not sufficient information on whether training has helped Qatar Petroleum to enhance organizational efficiency. However, based on standard observations, it was possible to study the overall training and development system of Qatar Petroleum. The research also aims at analyzing the needs and aspects of training and development in general.

Research ProposalTitle of the projectThe impact of training and development on employee performance - A case study of Qatar Petroleum (Oil and Gas Corporation)Background of the researchTraining and development are considered to be the most effective way of improving employee performance. Training and development refer to the practice of providing workshops, coaching, and other mentoring activities that effectively aim at improving the productivity of the employees (Ahuja, 2006). Through such learning opportunities employee knowledge base is increased and they are motivated to perform better.

Today’s modern-day organizations aim at developing training facilities not just for work-related needs, but they also render such training so that employees are able to balance work and personal lives better (Allen, et al., 2007).Research questionsThe primary aspects that this research aims at finding are:1) What are the different methods of training and development that Qatar Petroleum has adopted in order to enhance its employee performance?2) Have the training and development measures impacted employee performance positively?3) How can Qatar Petroleum further improve its employee performance by adopting better methods of training and development?
