Qualification Requirements of Security Personnel in the UK - Dissertation Example

Private security companies offer a wide range of security services. For the sake of understanding, they can be divided into two parts: physical and non-physical security services. In physical security, security services such as static security, mobile security, door security, escorts and so on are mainly provided by a range of security companies. The non-physical security services include the use of electronic devices in the shape of CCTV cameras, surveillance devices, and electronic access control and other relevant devices.

These security services are mainly extended to the commercial activities and commercial areas such as airports, office buildings, apartment complexes, shopping malls, parking lots, sports arenas, warehouses, bus and railway stations, and cargo terminals.  The ultimate purpose of security services is to detect, prevent and monitor criminal activities. Additionally, the security services also provide a secure and safe environment in which business activity is safely and smoothly carried out.

This paper is composed of five main chapters: Introduction, Literature Review, Methodology, Discussion and Analysis, and Conclusion and Recommendations. In the following parts of the paper, the literature review is included before the chapter of Methodology. Before the Conclusion and Recommendations segment, Discussion and Analysis chapter has been provided. Literature Review chapter is comprised of various subsections: private security industry, security services, regulation of private security industry, types of frontline licenses, core learning and qualifications for a securing guarding license, training requirements,  other requirements, criminal recording checking and a gap in research.

In the private security industry part, basic private security industry related information has been provided. The different types of security services have been highlighted in which guarding services, electronic security and risk, and investigation management services have been elaborated. In the subsequent part, regulation of the private security industry has been provided in which the role of the Security Industry Authority (SIA) has been discussed.
