1. Identification of staff problems is the urgent need and prioritize them accordingly. In the case study, avoid the migration of staff (Jennifer) by providing a better salary package and working atmosphere.

Organization Development (OD) can be described as an effort, planned, organization-wide, and managed from the top, to increase organization effectiveness and health through planned interventions in the organizations' processes, using behavioral-science knowledge (FN1). It is needed for motivating the current staff and for identifying their problems. Hence the successful staff development plan needs to study the behavioral changes of the staff members by combining the experience and theoretical aspects of management. For example in the present case study, some staff was in need of constant encouragement which was not taken care of. In the case of Jennifer, care should have been taken for identifying her need for the encouragement which would have resulted in her permanent attachment with the present organization.

Role of staff development in organizational success: It will provide instant energy to the staff members to work incessantly for their parent organization. It will work for the long term and total system management. The identification of problems will be done and the ranking of the staff needs will be prioritized. As the staff constitutes a major share of the organization’s budget, their development will certainly aid in enhancing the success of the organization. In addition, the staff development plan helps in efficient job analysis, job description and training in crisis which in turn contributes to the success of the organization.  Traditional financial measures have been criticized for lacking relevance in today's economy and thus, it is important to explore whether and when firms recognize this potential deficiency and take action to acquire the appropriate information on human resource variables. ...Download file to see next pagesRead More
