Learning Contract Learning Contract Learning contract is an agreement that is established between the teacher and a . Sometimes, the contract might involve the parents of the student. Learning contract specifies concrete behavioral and learning objectives for the student as agreed by all the parties of the contract. Malcolm Knowles argued that the learning contract would specify some contents, which include;• The goals and objectives to be achieved• The duties of all the parties to the contract• Time frame within which the terms and conditions of the learning contract are fulfilled• Basis to be determined how the conditions of the learning contract were metLearning contract has many benefits to all the parties involved.

Since the student will be a party to the contract, he/she will be more intimately involved in his/her education, as learning will be more self-directed (Agapiou & Nicol 2010, p. 41). When a student engages in the contracting process, where he/she will participate in making decisions concerning their education will increase their internal motivation. Learning contract will enable the student to accomplish other goals apart from working for marks. The student will be satisfied after meeting other goals.

Many students respond positively to this technique of learning as they appreciate the efforts applied by the teacher in recognizing and accommodating their individual needs. As the student is from working at an appropriate level, the teacher is satisfied from seeing make efforts and grow. The teacher is also happy that the classroom time is not disturbed by regular distractions. Learning contract teaches the student some life skills like learning the importance of setting goals and struggling to achieve them.

Learning contract is important as it guides the learner and the teacher on the procedure of handling various topics or units one after the other (Gomez 2011, p. 73). Learning contracts should be designed in a way that it will benefit the parties of the contract especially the learner. The contract should contain all the contents including the objectives, duties of the parties, time to be accomplished, and the achievements.LEARING CONTRACTLEARNER______________ LEARNING EXPERIENCE: Improving my Study SkillsOBJECTIVES(What are you going to learn?)RESOURCES & STRATEGIES(How are you going to learn?)EVIDENCE(How will you know you learned it?)VALIDATION(How will you prove that you learned it?)TARGET DATES(When will it be completed?)Improve on private studyMoving to a personal and silent room and acquiring all the materials like booksAsking professor to test what I have coveredTesting my understanding by answering practice questionsDecember 2014Utilizing available time in my studiesSetting time strictly for each subject or topicLooking at the area covered in relation to time usedTesting personal understanding on the area coveredDecember 2014Improving how to approach questionsTrying to answer questions in the areas I have covered in my studyLooking for other related questions in different books and answering themLooking at the time taken to answer questions and quality of the answersDecember 2014Improving my general performanceSeeking for guidance from the professorAsking the professor to set for me questions and mark from different fields of my study Comparing my current performance with the previous December 2014ReferencesAgapiou, A.
