Human Resource AdministrationIn my opinion, social networks should be used by executive personnel in making judgments when it comes to hiring of individuals. This is because, an individual using social networks to interact with friends has the choice of making her information private, By so doing, this limits the chances of strangers depriving into one’s private life and using the information to incriminate someone. It is paramount for managers to use whatever information retrieved from social networks in determining employees to hire.

This is because they will be representing the company and any negative publicity about employees lowers the standards of the company. Also, clients use social networks in search of products and services. This means that they are bound to stable on this information at one point in time. Distrust of customers leads to decreased profits and market segments. This will lead to losing customers to competing companies who use this information to lure customers and win their trust. Data misuse by third parties has led many users of Facebook have encroached self-determination that limits them from having prosperous careers.

Mary Jane has the experience and knowledge to take up the position of Field Sales Manager. However, her negligence and ignorance concerning the use of social networks has tarnished her name and image. Field Sales Manager interacts with so many people and her image should portray all the values of the company. Some of the clients she is going to reach out to use Facebook and will eventually leak out information to prospective clients concerning the pictures. This will give the company a poor image and therefore, the HR administration should reconsider their decision of hiring Mary.

Her negligence and ignorance portrays that she will do the same for the clients she mingles with when hired by the company to carry out the responsibilities of Field Sales Manager. This position is prestigious and needs to be given to an individual with an all-round personality encompassing outstanding social behaviors. Through social media, employers can check on their employees for harassing postings on Facebook, but cannot use data achieved to discriminate against their employees due to religion, race or sexual orientation.

A candidate’s legal right to privacy is breached when employers hack into their protected accounts. Encrypted Facebook accounts, with passwords, should not be tampered with by employers. This is a way of avoiding breach of employees’ privacy. Employees need their privacy in order to perform well in their organizations and meet an organization’s goals and objectives. By doing so, they will be liable to compensating the employee and paying for imposing on their private life. However, if the information displayed is not protected, the employee has no one to blame but himself.

Exposing of information to the public community will bring about fatal consequences to both the company and employee. Privacy rights for employees are well stipulated in company acts and thus, failure to adhere to them will lead to filing of court cases, which drag for long periods wasting precious time. Human resource departments should be vigilant not to breach the contract between the employee and company with regard to privacy matters.Work Cited:Sistare, Hannah, Shiplett, Myra and Buss, Terry.
