South Australian historical tools association is not just a tool club. It is a wholesome association. Our main roles being identification, preservation, education, and promotion of tools, trades and technologies from the period of early Stone Age to the Space Age period. Our aims are to educate the public about our rich history of tools and how our technology has developed over time through tools have grown over the years our aim is to be recognised by the authority as one of the main association in this field and to establish a technology base multifaceted premises to house the varied elements of our work. Where we can showcase them to people who are interested in the history of tools and technology.
We are currently four years old with 60 members and we are still growing in numbers as time passes with David Whyte being our capable organization president. We are an incorporated body that is self-funded through membership, donations and tool sales to collectors. Most of these tools that have been discovered by our members. As of the last meeting the treasurers report showed that we had an opening balance for the South Australia Historical Tools Association bank account of $5,035.79. After credits of $1,271.79 from new memberships, meeting attendance fees, bank interest, clothing and catalogue sales and debits of $1,034.95 for hall rental, storage fees, outstanding consignment monies from March auction, printing and stationery resulted in a closing balance at the start of the meeting at $5,272.63.
We have formed close bonds over the period of time we have been operational with the National Trust, The Power of the Past, Buildings & More Expo, Carrick Hill and Barossa Goldfields and participate with these groups at their various events.
These close relationships have enabled our organization in the field of marketing and also we have been able to make the communities nearby aware of our historical tools and the technologies used in the past.
We have also tried to reach out more to the people through Ashley Walsh from ABC Radio 891 who has given us good exposure through talkback radio and will continue with that goodwill.
These associations have resulted in considerable donations, purchase of tools along with historical documents and literature. And, we have UniSA assisting with website development, video promotion and are willing to do the same in website development. And video promotion for our next major event which is meant to help raise funds to establish a South Australian tools history museum.
We have planned to hold a walk on 12 of December this year. This walk which will help us raise funds to establish a South Australian tools history museum section specifically for the tools from the Stone Age to the Space Age and Beyond where we can display our tools and also teach the History of the tools, how it was made and the purpose of the specific tool.
This museum will be a major development for us and anyone who will be willing to invest in us because it will be a continuous source of funds and resources as people will be coming to learn and discover historical tools and growth of technology over the years at a very affordable fee.
The marketing and advertising of this museum will ensure that people from all over the world will come to learn about Australian tools hence promoting tourism, commerce and trade.
For this to be made possible we wish to request your bank for sponsorship. We have held discussions among ourselves as an organisation and have come with a unanimous agreement that your bank would be the best candidate to sponsor our walk to raise funds for the establishment of a tools history museum. South Australian historical tools association is a growing force with an alignment to serious established bodies within the heritage world and it is only right that it should have its own permanent residents to showcase its tools.
We specifically chose your bank to be our sponsors because Bank of South Australia has been recorded as one largest financial institution in South Australia and also your bank is largest home lender in the state.
Our organization and your bank working together will yield something of value for both of us, we already have partners we have been working together with in the past and have proved to be our most valuable assets in publicizing our organization. In association with Ashley Walsh from ABC Radio 891 who are willing to give us good exposure about the walk to raise money to establish a south Australian tools History museum through talkback radio and we continue that goodwill and, UniSA who will be assisting with website development, video promotion.
With all the publicity we wish to hold walks with different distances which will be suited for all family members.
Five kilometres for the children and the elderly and ten to 20 kilometres for the adults. Our members have shown a lot of enthusiasm towards this event and it promises to be successful, each participant that will be involved in the walk will have paid in advance of dollars amounting to $73 for the children and for the adult’s dollars amounting to $110. On the day of the walk the people who will have procured the tickets through paying the registration fee will be given a promotional t-shirt. If you agree to be our sponsors on this event, we will have the name of your t-shirt printed on all the t-shirts of the people participating in the walk.
We will also have your bank name in the banners on all the streets and roads the walk route will be and also in the advertisement campaign of the walks, in videos, webpages and also in thick Radio 891.
We choose your bank to be our sponsor on this day because it is one of the oldest banks in South Australia, very strategic to the place where we mean to put an establishment of the historic museum.
People have come to trust your bank over the years and if you agree to be our sponsor we will open an account in your bank where we will bank all the proceeds we get from this walk.
We plan to make this walk a family affair where every member of the family can participate and also interact with other people in a healthy way where in the process they are promoting history by helping to build a museum where anyone from all over the world can come and learn the rich Australian History.
The winners in all categories of distances of walks will be given gift hampers and $250 which will be given in form of a cheque by a representative from your bank.
We cannot achieve our goal alone but with you as our sponsors we can make this dream come true. We have the conviction that what we are offering is a good marketing investment and a great promotion to your bank as it offers free advertisement.
If you agree to be our sponsor, we would like a contribution of $3000 from you that would help us towards our goal of building a museum and also a certain percentage of your contribution will go towards making the event possible by helping to procure the printed t-shirts and water to help hydrate the participants. We already have volunteers to help in first aid and in supply of water.
We as South Australian historical tools association look forward to hearing a positive reply from your bank so that we can embark on a mutually satisfying agreement as you help us achieve our dreams as an organization.
