Political and Cultural Difference in Middle East and USA Introduction As a means of comparing the America and the Middle East, three aspects will be considered in the essay. The aspect of culture, religion and ideological differences and similarities is what will be detailed. The issues of the three aspects will be discussed and their impact on the two geographical regions will be analyzed. Effort to create a mutual understanding and elimination of negative coexistence will be focused upon. The research will focus on current issues and political history to recommend on opportunities available between the two regions and solution to the ever ending crisis and enmity among the citizens of the two given regions. The paper will recommend on measures to taken by the two regions in finding peace and appreciating cultures between the two regions. Cultural differences The cultural difference between the two regions is the result of major differences that exist between the two regions. The differences and similarities in the region include religion, culture and ideological differences with each region boasting of existing cultures that identify them to their respective regions. The region is an origin of Christianity, Islam and Judaism. The factor gives the Middle East an original culture that is less influenced by current events happening in other countries. The cultural nature of the Middle East plays a part in identifying the region as conservative and hardliners with the sense of brotherhood. U.S. department of state (2011) on the other hand identifies USA as a place of multicultural with different cultural practices accepted and recognized by the organizational structure of the country. The journal defines how different state practice different cultures. The notion makes the State a cross cultural state and a region where different practices can be integrated with less resistance. This is the reason as to why many immigrants choose the USA as their preferred destination. The composition of the USA and existing cultures describes the differences that exist between it and the Middle East where culture is based on ancient practices and teachings. Immigration between the two regions Migration plays part in the American culture composition with majority of the world population shifting to the USA. The trend can be traced to the Reason for the migration may have changed but the interest which is the opportunities in USA remains their major priority. The initial European immigrants where focused on the conquest agenda different from the Asian immigrants who are either seeking for asylum or for educational or job opportunities. The shift is what contributes to the cultures and multicultural practices witnessed in the united state of America (Childers, n.d). The existing cultures have had an impact on the thinking and notion among the Americans. Stereo types originating from the multicultural has had a negative effect on the lifestyle and coexistence in the American set up. The majority dwell on stereotypes set by political and other ideological leaders. The concern has being high number of immigrants who threatens the original identity of American culture. Cross cultural effect has been seen the evolution of the culture with age directly determining the type of lifestyle and individual carries. The Middle East contains a similar culture that is identical across all ages. Religion The other aspect of these two regions I the religious believe with the Middle East having majority of their citizens practicing Islam and the Islamic culture. The religion dominates each decision making with the national government using the Quran as there reference while making and formulating the laws of the land. The other religion in the region is Judaism that like Islam is strict in its commands using torah as their point of interest. The two religions affect life styles that the region carries with each gender and age given a guideline in which to follow to follow. The united state has mixed religious beliefs with none affecting their lives and decision making. The democratic nature of the USA allows each individual to choose the life style each wises to follow but is guided by federal laws (Bagby, 2012). There exist states civil liberties that allow citizens freedom to choose and carry out political and national agendas. The American nation contains some source of Middle East culture which range from names o religious and cultural beliefs. The existence of similar traits in religion and culture provides a sense of togetherness and sense of unity. Ideological differences The other aspect is the ideological differences and similarity. They range from the economical to political aspect. The region has seen experienced a long political difference with each region affecting the political composition and decision making of the other. The regions political difference has a long history and control over resources and territory has seen the existence of heated debate between them. The terrorist attacks and the security concerns that the USA is experiencing have been blamed to the Middle East with religious groups present in the region. The United States of America has seen its military being deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq attest for the existing political differences between the two countries. The Middle East ideology is built around USA being the common enemy and it affecting them. The Arab spring that hit majority of the countries in Middle East have been blamed to the United States of America and their continuous interference of internal matters. These counter accusations have seen most campaigns and political process being influenced by the nature each party handles the Middle East situation. The ongoing Syrian conflict has had two sides, the rebels who are seen to have foreign ideologies and political agendas and the USA playing center stage. The Bashar al-Assad led government on the other hand possesses ideas and agendas driven and supported by the majority of the Middle East countries. Arab- Israeli conflict The Palestine and Israeli conflict has seen the two regions having political interest with the American government being associated with Israel and using the platform to create a leeway towards the control of the region. The region has licked the American interest in resources for the political failures of the region (Lulu 777, 2006). The internal conflict in the region has been between those with the American ideologies and those conservative nations that opposed with the American ideologist. The interest of the Middle East towards America lies on education and job vacancies. The American interest in the Middle East is more of political supremacy, territorial supremacy and economical advantages that include the control over natural resources which include crude oil and natural gas. Trade between the two regions has differed in terms of commodities being trade and nature of carrying out business (Rubin, 2012). The main source of income in the Middle East is oil with multinationals controlling the oil wells. The regions instability is affected by their relationship with animosity being translated to religious affiliation. The Israeli and the Arab conflicts indicate the ethic turmoil between the regions. The unsecured state of the regions provides a platform in which other nations invade the region to perform their personal interest. The multinationals have roots in Europe and Middle East. The oil market is what creates a common interest. There exist mutual benefits between the two states. The united state creates a potentially larger market and stable economy that allows the oil producing nations to sell their products in the region. The economic state of USA allows expansion of their companies beyond the set territory. The activity of the dollar affects the general prizes of crude oil. The Middle East provides the largest producers of oil with the largest consumers being found in the USA. The two aspects shows the differences can reach and agreeable point where each need to depend on the other. The relationship is similar to the hadiths in Quran, the bible’s first five books and torah. They tend to differ in some instances but share the same story line with similar beliefs. They indicate a point in which each culture and belief should coexist in order to prosper. The differences can be buried though trade and not political and military engagement. The interests in the Middle East by USA ensures that each of the two region enjoy political stability needed to carryout business and trade. The political stability of one given region should be used to ensure the stability of the other region by so doing the trade agenda will be achieved. Historical differences There exit historical gaps between the two regions with majority of the citizens feeling the impact. The nature in which the Middle East has created a common enemy in pursing political agendas is the same way the American citizens have had to stereotype the citizens from the Middle East. These stereotypes links terror related activities to either religious activity in the Middle East and the ethnic composition of the region. The stereo type has been different from those given to immigrants from other nations. The Middle East states consider the American culture and ideologist to be unethical and lack focus with those associated to it being considered sympathizers of the west and traitors. The American presents in Iraq and Afghanistan has been termed as the reason behind the instability being experienced in the region. The unwelcomed presence of the USA is as a result of the September 11 attacks in USA among other political threats. The Kuwait Iran Iraq conflict was also associated with existing conflicts between the American government and the Middle East. The conflict affected the economic composition of quite after Sadaam set ablaze oil wells in Kuwait. Internal conflicts The internal conflict in the Middle East has amounted to losses. The losses can be linked to both property and lives. U.S Energy Information Administration (2013) indicates a loss of $ 12 trillion in the twenty year old conflict between the Arabs and the Israeli. The statistics shows the difference in economic capability between the region and the United State of America. The USA has enjoyed internal political stability that allows them time to invest in other activities that ensure a streamline system. The Middle East on the other hand has had to deal with internal conflicts and the American war. The affect has been loss of properties and stagnating and falling economies. Political stability determines a health environment to carry out business with investors willing to invest in a region where stability and business security is guaranteed. The economic composition of a region is based on internal factors and international activities; the region has suffered political and economic sanctions with the latest victims being Syria where the international community has raised alarm on the number of killings happening within the country. The American government has had a healthy relationship with the international community with the effect being improved economy and business activities. Recommendation The similarities between the two regions should be used to develop a common agreement that will ensure peace in the two regions. The efforts to foster peace will depend on the two governments of the region. Activities that create stereotypes should be undermined with movies prompting either terror activities or negative existence between the two regions banned. The government of the Middle East countries should change their policies to ensure other cultures are integrated into their constitution. The negative notion that is associated with foreign culture should be dealt with measures being kept to ensure international coexistence. The trade that exists between the two regions should be used to create political understanding between the two states. The historical injustices and relationship should be forgotten and the media being used as a tool to preach peace and new relationship. Each nation should be accountable for activities related to their citizens. The personal interest per given region should be eliminated and an approach adopted to ensure the regions gain mutually in matters economic and political gains. The two regions should use the international platform to resolve their conflict rather than military intervention which creates more trouble than solutions. The other state of acceptance will be based on the citizens themselves. There needs to be exchange programs that will allow the two regions to the ideas and political agenda and will allow the younger generation to develop a new culture that will allow them coexist. Inter-cultural exchanges will ensure the stereotypes developed by the nations being exchanged by a culture of acceptance. The political turmoil is human made and its solutions are possible through negotiation and mutual agreement. The natural resources in the Middle East should be used to enhance peace rather than create internal conflicts. Conclusion There exist similarities between the two regions with traces of cultural exchanges being witness in the United States of America. The cultures have brought about political and economical relationship between the two states. Religion is a key component in any given society and the differences in teaching may be the cause of many religious conflicts. The two state needs to consider the injustices being performed by the two states to be liked to crime rather than the general region. The beginning of conflicts between the two regions is the ideological differences that exist between the two regions with many blaming instability to either the direct involvement of each party or funding. The global village creates a sense of coexistence and that is what the regions have failed in implementing. The two regions have had different economic situation with the USA enjoying more economic benefits than the Middle East countries. The reason behind the differences in the economic situation is the existence of government policy and its relationship with the international community. The two regions have seen major event being influenced by the political nature of each other. Work cited Bagby, Ihsan.
