of French Revolution: History The E s General played an important role in the French Revolution era. As per the historical facts, French King ordained the Estates General to assemble. During this assembly, it was noted that the third Estate did not assemble with other Estates. It was mainly because of the fact that had lesser privilege in terms of voting. This Estate included doctors, professors, journalists etc. This Third Estate was being held for paying taxes. Another event that was taken place because of the Third Estate was the enhancement to the enlightenment. It was noted that the Third Estate was majorly impressed by the American Revolution that was undertaken because of the enlightenment ideal.
Since it was being observed that the rights of the individuals were being ignored, this resulted in the initiation of the national assembly. With the help of national assembly, it was much easier to represent the French people. Rights of man with the help of declaration were achieved because a social body was set up to make sure that people were being given their rights. The legislative power was also being marked as an imperative stance for this. Thus, national assembly was being considered as a very imperative institute of the political schema (Bentley, Ziegler and Salter).
Another important event that was noted during the French Revolution was basically the declaration of the rights of Man and the citizen. This has been studied in the history with the name of Liberty, equality and Fraternity slogan which became the motto of the French Revolution in 1789.
Talking about the convention, since the terror reign period, the convention played an active role such as adopting the republican constitution for France. The year was 1793 which is also marked as a year of constitution Year I. Followed by this event, it was marked that the convention was greatly affected under the pressure of people. Consequently, the convention has to make sure that the Terror: systematic and lethal repression was institutionalized so that people could have been able to represent their voices in order to get their primary rights. Also, a number of legislations were passed by the convention. The convention is also critically renowned for the act of administering army against the farmers in order to get the hold of the grains which were expected to be sent to the government (Bentley, Ziegler and Salter).
It was noted that the Robespierre was convicted for the treason. Ultimately, it was also found that his allies were also involved. As soon as Robespierre was convicted, there was a need of governance. It was for this reason that the group of men who claimed a moderate set of viewpoints assembled. With the help of these people, a new governmental order was observed which was knows as directory. This governmental system was then designed with two legislations. This rule was observed during the French Revolution since 1795 to next four years. However, it should also be noted that this type of the government seemingly could not help in overall success (Bentley, Ziegler and Salter).
With the series of the events that took place during the French Revolution, the question that has been asked over and over by the historians and the researchers is in terms of the fulfillment of ideals. Precisely, it is evaluated whether the French Revolution was able to fulfill the ideals of the people or the event that took place or not. During the pace of answering the question, a number of writers have noted that with the help of Napoleon, it was significant for France to ultimately get out with the tormented status. It was noted that even during the era of French revolution, things and the pace of revolution was affirming of the people’s affirming action. The accusation of land was only possible because of Napoleon. For most of the part of the revolution, it can be said that the revolution was somewhat able to fulfill the ideals that were expected. But it should be noted that the intensity remained less. On the front, it was seen that the churches were taken away from the extremists and that they were handed over the people. It is considered as one of the most profound achievement of the revolution (Bentley, Ziegler and Salter).
On the other hand, the fact remains that one of the crucial ideal behind this social reform was to make sure that the government was able to provide rights to all and that the equality were the basis behind all the policies that were to be applied or implied. But practically, it was found out that due to the French Revolution, the distinction between the classes became much more prominent. It was in the shape of poor and rich that the ideal of the French Revolution was not met. Many historians claim that the ultimate impression of the enlightenment theory could not be applied on the events of French Revolution (Bentley, Ziegler and Salter).
One of the factors that should be considered significant is that the nation was able to overthrow the government if their rights were not provided to them or if they were being suppressed. In that case, French Revolution has been able to fulfill its ideal of bringing the power to nation rather than monarchy. Also, the historians have noted that it was the French Revolution that has helped the western empire to get developed in every aspect of society (Bentley, Ziegler and Salter).
One more ideal that was considered as a base of the revolution was the like-minded aspects. It was noted that by the end of the French Revolution, there were many groups who were cooperating with each other in a much accentuated manner. Ultimately, with the help of like-minded viewpoints, it became much easier for the people to come closer to each other and decide for equality. The governmental institutions which were supposed to be considered as the base decision making process for France also became quiet effective in governmental actions. Naturally, the law and order situation in the country proved to be self sufficient. As studied in a brief manner in aforementioned paragraphs, it should be noted that there were a number of hurdles such as Third Estate issues. But with the help of convention and directory, these issues were solved long before (Bentley, Ziegler and Salter).
French people needed governance which was only made possible by the French Revolution. In addition to the need of the governance, the monarchy proved as a devastating event in the history French people. Thus, it was much important for the people to overthrow the monarchy and get on with their own governmental preferences. The monarchy was criticized over and over before French Revolution but its actual aspects were practically implied during the French Revolution (Bentley, Ziegler and Salter).
However, the above noted ideals were crucial to the success of the French Revolution in meeting them but one of the strategic ideal was the formation of constitution. It took different steps for the formation of final constitution. It was not possible until the governance had to undergo terror reign. Also, the steps towards the moderation were surely the achievement of the French Revolution. The voice of French people was surely modernization that they were not able to experience because of the extremis monarchies. Feudal system was also put to an end in French which completes the ideal lists. French Revolution also helped in other enlightenment events such as metric system application, followed by the judicial reforms. But these are secondary to the list of ideals for which the French Revolution was undertaken.
