Tragedy Of The Holocaust And Its Historical Influence Summary of the book Finkelstein, by reading between the lines, has written this book in the scenario of Arab-Israel war 1967, Palestine occupation of Jews, American foreign policy, the agreements and compensations between Jews and Arabs. The book contains three chapters: one; Capitalizing the Holocaust, two; Hoaxers, Hucksters, and History, three; The Double Shakedown. The book was first published by Verso (New York and London) in 2000. The second edition of the book was published in 2003 with addition of Swiss Bank and CRT records. Finkelstein is a social scientist and a maverick writer who has criticized on the American Jewish and the US government policies. The book unveils the facts of holocaust survivors’ settlement in Switzerland. And the Nobel laureate Elie Wiesel has also been critically awarded by the words: “Plainly he did not come to this position on account of his humanitarian commitments or literary talents” (Finkelstein p.04). The interpreters of history Binjamin Wilkomisrski (writer of Fragments), Jerzy Kosinski (writer of The Painted Bird), Daniel Goldhagen and Israel Gutman are crucially exposed by Finkelstein. The history of Nazis’, the Hitler’s party which carried out the killings of Jews community (Holocaust), during the Second World War has been explored regarding displacement and settlement of disturbed Jews community. The Semitism and anti-Semitism factor are also discussed very thoroughly because it is concerned with the major events of the holocaust in Europe and Palestine. With the series of events and cruelties, the Germans are criticized on the WWII Jewish killings and Jews are criticized on Palestinians Killings. It has been interpreted that the Jews have been good students of Nazis. The “clear picture” of conspiracies of American Jews lobbyists on Swiss Bank and Claims Resolution Tribunal (CRT) has been shown very well. Critical analysis on the book The start of the book is very hooky and different in style of history. Lots of historians do not interpret things between the lines. The backgrounds of events are not presented in a thought provoking manners. The rudimentary concept of the substances of the book is about renunciation of ‘Survivors’. It is because the Jews associations, especially in America, tried to get the benefit of money and recognition for their sufferings. As Finkelstein writes: “The first class-action lawsuit was filed in early October 1996 by Edward Fagan and Robert Swift on behalf of izella Weisshaus (her father spoke about monies deposited in Switzerland before his death in Auschwitz but the banks rebuffed her postwar inquiries) and “others similarly situated” for $20 billion.” (p. 100) In other words Finkelstein is of the opinion that the holocaust survivors should have tried to build good relation with the world. The advantages from Swiss bank and Germany were useless things. Under the government of President Clinton the Jewish community used the media and politics in the favour of Jews. ones were suffering pain and how these associations utilised very dark posted letters and Germans make up their individual concerns with the assist of the U.S. government and previous President Clinton. The law suit results by Finkelstein are written in this way: “The $1.25 billion settlement with Switzerland covered basically three classes- claimants to dormant Swiss accounts, refugees denied Swiss asylum, and victims of slave labour which Swiss benefited from.” (p. 103) The writer has supplemented some significant study on the law suite topic which is nearly identical for the exceptional part of this piece of writing. The composing method of the work trades for the scribe inserts the theme with the beginning of the accolade and collected clues all through the book. Politically, the book inculcates the party politics and political leaders’ game by using the Holocaust issue. Some facts are still on the edge of doubt because they are not referenced and produced with a certainty. As Finkelstein has given a clue that the money, which was got in compensation, was not distributed rightly. That case and other things had created the problems for Jews. So that, the Jews, after the bank compensate, wanted to revise the relation with Germany because this was the way to gain sympathies. The American Jewish Committee (AJC), World Jewish Congress (WJC) and Anti-Defamation League (ADL) organisations formulated to gain reputation of Jews all over the world. As it is described by Finkelstein: “Together these organizations collaborated with the Bonn government to contain the “anti-German wave” of Jewish popular sentiment” (p.14) A very different part of the book is that the well known writers, who write on Holocaust issues, are criticized a lot. The Jewish associations of the world have made a ground to acquire the sympathies, though the Muslim World is angry on this community, and major place in the prominent countries. For that purpose the media men and authors have exploited all their efforts to stretch the issues of holocaust as much. But Finkelstein has given the two sides of mirror on showing the Palestine cruelties and Arab-Israel war. Opinions about the book The exceptional personalities, for instance Noam Chomsky, Alexander Cockburn, Raul Hilberg, call Finkelstein as “well-trained political scientist”. The actions and events in the book, mentioned by Finkelstein, are actually taken on the employed books supplemented about the topics of Holocaust and Palestine occupation. In the consideration of study this publication can be ranked in top ten books in holocaust industry. On the other hand, Neuborne, the lawyer of the Swiss bank case, articulates some authentic records which are not mentioned by Finkelstein. Finkelstein, in his chapter three of the book, has claimed that the lawyer had had meetings with the conspirators and other misguided survivors. But Neuborne plainly refuse these things and says: “Your characterization of the legal theories as a "shakedown" is, however, completely false” (The Nation). Moreover, it is great lesson to political scientist and researchers to open the new avenues regarding the subject. The book is about the political history of Jewish identity and success on independent country. The planning of success by Jews by the help of the US went very meaningful but the given take advantages system could not allow to give sustainable peace policy. The “identity politics” and “Culture of Victimization” are argued in very scholarly manners. The Economist praises Finkelstein on his style of presentation of arguments: "... his basic argument that memories of the Holocaust are being debased is serious and should be given its due." Conclusion Some amount of the book contains the material without facts. The coherence in the presentation is missing at some places. As a whole, all the chapters are written with full care and observation. It is well known in the European and American public. It is the thorough observation that books, which contain policy analysis, get an exceptional placement. In this world, the interpretation of policies is very necessary. Finkelstein has painted the canvas of policies played today. Political, economic, social, military and media sectors of the world are paralysed by the monopoly of some elements. The common men want to have solutions of problems. And the root of the problems can be found if policies are read well. Finkelstein has nicely placed the following sentences: “The Holocaust industry sprung up only after Israel’s overwhelming display of military dominance and flourished amid extreme Israeli triumphalism. The standard interpretative framework cannot explain these anomalies”. (p.26) Finkelstein has not mentioned economic facts and figures but he has dealt with politically economic issues. The Jews riches of unexploited causes, Finkelstein reveals the twice breakdown of many nations at the parts of Europe. As well as authorized Jewish pretenders, and sum up the incidents has become a uproar, untainted and simple. Through study and nearly contended, the book is worth reading. Work cited Finkelstein G.
