Fahad Al-marri Emily Gorn feb. 8. Life in the United s Each year a large number of people travel to the United s. Among them are leisure travelers; people who are simply travelling for a vacation. Some are immigrants, others are students like me who travel to the United States to study. The opportunities that one is provided in the United States makes it an ideal place for almost everyone in order to thrive in life. I too travelled to the US for my educational endeavors. There are many reasons to like the United States which relate to the fact that they all help in easing the life of an international immigrant. These facts relate to the level of freedom, quality of life, and the cultural diversity here in the US. This is why the United States is a popular destination for students who are seeking a high quality education in a multi-cultural environment. Over time I have realized that the country is so racially diversified that I do not feel as if I have come to an alien place and it automatically helps me integrate into the society over here. Hence, the United States is a perfect location not only to study but also to live in. I have never felt more freedom in any other place than in the United States, which is why I like doing my studies here in the US. Freedom is a major plus point of studying in the United States. Every individual has the freedom to do whatever they want without being restricted. I am guaranteed my fundamental rights in every way including freedom of speech, actions, and thought. This can be clearly witnessed in the fact that no one points a finger at me or my religion even if I practice it openly without indulging others. Moreover, the kind of dressing that I wear does not concern anyone whereas in my country a person is judged upon by the clothes he wears. Similarly at many instances I have freely expressed my notions regarding the American culture without any fear of being suppressed by the nationals. Because I am not always studying, I also get a lot of free time. In my free time, I can travel to other places without any restriction. I can travel wherever I want, even at night, without being afraid of my security at night. This confirms Further there is no restriction on the time; I can eat and sleep any time I want. At the same time, my usual life and studies are also not affected. Furthermore, I am not restricted or inhibited in any way. I am free to do as I like without affecting the rights of others. As a student as well, I have a lot of flexibility in terms of my schedule. After my classes I am free for a considerable amount of time and I can visit places and eat out without fearing. My routine remains undisturbed and this is why I have a lot of flexibility in deciding what I want to do. After living in the United States, I have realized that everyone is living their own life and no one indulges in the lives of others as is the point of concern in other parts of the world. The quality of life in the United States is high as people tend to get paid higher for the jobs that they carry out over here. Because the United States is a huge country with many states, there are various options to enjoy ones life. One can hang out, dine out at restaurants, go sight-seeing, go to watch movies at the cinema, or enjoy at home. There are many different restaurants offering different culinary cuisines so a person has a lot of choice to eat wherever they want. One can eat Chinese or grab a burger from a burger bar or order pizza. I have visited places to eat late at the night and the food in different parts of the cities is usually delicious. The food is of high quality generally and most of the global food chains and restaurants take a lot of care regarding quality control. Hence the food not only tastes well but is also high quality in. One can easily find restaurants that are open all night and I usually prefer going to these places whenever I am studying late in the night. So is the case with the many forms of entertainment. There are many options to choose from. A person can either stay at home or go outside, watch movies, go to watch sports, go to the mall and go to the arcades. I usually visit malls whenever I am bored and when I get enough time I can watch movies in these malls. Moreover, I can always hang around in bars to pass my time and make friends there. The standard of living is also a point to note given the quality of life in the United States. Most of the people have their own homes, cars, and even health insurance which ensure that people are covered for their health bills in case they get sick. So the people have access to high quality facilities such as healthcare, housing, food and entertainment. I am a student but I also have a health insurance provided by the university itself and this clearly shows that the life of an individual is greatly valued here in the United states. As a result people enjoy many more facilities and hence a higher quality of life in the United States. Another feature of the American culture is its diversity. The United States is a melting pot of many different cultures. There are many people with different cultural backgrounds and the country is home to a wide variety of races and nationalities. There is a China Town located in every state which is characteristic of Chinese culture. One can find many Chinese restaurants run by Chinese expatriates. Also because the United States has a large number of foreign immigrants, their cultures are well represented too. There is a lot of cultural diversity even in the workplace. A person can find colleagues from different races and ethnicities. The cities also have a fair share of representation from every culture. Cultural cuisines from different countries are also served in many restaurants. Even in a classroom the composition is quite varied with people belonging to different nationalities and backgrounds. However despite the cultural differences diversity is in fact a unifying factor across the country. Every individual gets a lot of chance to interact with people different than their own culture. This engenders feelings of appreciation for each others’ cultures which is why the Americans have a high tolerance for other cultures. People are generally appreciative of other cultures and ethnicities because of the social composition. Culture is promoted through various channels including sports, politics, entertainment and education. Therefore cultural diversity is an evident feature of the American society. Because of the American libertarian values, people despite their different backgrounds, are considered to be equal subjects in terms of freedom. Every citizen regardless of their racial or ethnic backgrounds has accessibility to jobs and housing as well as healthcare. More importantly people can fearlessly express their opinions however radical and different they might be because people have the freedom of thought as long as they do not interfere with the freedom of others. As such the American society holds a high level of tolerance for different people and cultures which is why it is a notable location for people around the world. Workplaces are full of people from different races and no one can hold them back as they are appreciated for their hard work and intelligence. This is because the American society encourages talent and does not hold a person back. The United States also has a large number of reputed educational universities and institutes that offer high quality education which people from all over the world can benefit from. Therefore the United States is a great place for people around the world to study and complete their education from high quality educational institutes. In conclusion, the United States is a desirable destination for students looking to receive a high quality education. The US is also a nice place to live in; I got a lot of free time as a student to explore things beyond the classroom. Freedom is an attractive characteristic of life in the US. A person is unrestricted and can follow their own way of living their lives. Everyone feels free and is guaranteed their fundamental liberties. Furthermore, the standard of living is high. Food and entertainment is of good quality and people have access to high quality healthcare facilities in case they are sick. Also, there is generally greater accessibility among social classes to world class education and healthcare. A person has a wide range of option to choose where they want to eat. The restaurants and food chains follow strict quality control which is why the food generally is of premium quality. Because of the cultural diversity in the United States one is likely to find people from different backgrounds. It is easy to find a local Chinese restaurant or an Indian convenience store. The people are from varied backgrounds and represent different cultures. Hence, the United States is a melting pot of different cultures and ethnicities. As a result, the streets are filled with people from different countries. This shows that the United States is appreciative of different cultures and promotes them through various channels such as education, politics, entertainment, and so on. Therefore, the United States is a great location to study and live in, and the US should try to sustain their level of development in order to help and support their future generations so they can lead a high quality of life as well.
