McCarthy influenced the ideology that such communists would subvert the US government thereby taking over the country. In turn, the society embarked on an exposure of the suspected American political left. Individuals in given organizations and those in the entertainment industry had their identities blacklisted thereby restricting them from general entitlements such as work opportunities and freedom of speech.
