This study finds complaints and criticisms that Wal-Mart has failed in its accountability to workers, but not to its stockholders. He conclusion drawn in this study is it is best to satisfy employees, because motivated employees will go an extra mile for the company. This would mean more productivity that will give Wal-Mart a good return in profits.
This paper focuses at the organizational structure of one of the biggest retail store in the United States, the Wal-Mart. This store has been ranked by Forbes Global 200 list as the world’s 18th largest corporation.( http://www.forbes.com/companies/wal-mart-stores/) Wal-Mart is a global company selling goods in 15 countries and has 8,500 stores of 55 different names. This company makes an interesting study of an organizational culture that has to adopt a system under a global atmosphere that employs 2.2 million people. This study attempts to find out whether the store has been effective, efficient and has met the ethical standards and accountability in its operations.
Why is an organizational structure important in a company, whether public or private? An organization as incorporated in a theory, is defined as “ assembly of people working together to achieve common objective through a division of labor” ( INC.,2014) . The importance of an organization structure of a company plays significant role in the company, and that there are elements in it that ranks in significance. Hao, Kasper, et. al (2012) found out in their studies that views of importance differ according to ranks and places.
