The two colonies adopted English law and representative government, which later became the major steppingstone for the Northern US to English democracy, which is a period of transition to real democracy. This is referred to as an era of “feudalism” in Europe. It accrued as a result of the English Civil War (1642-51), which was caused by a conflict between parliament and the Stuart monarchy. The war crashed on American democracy that brought the establishment of strong royal control, which was unbreakable and eventually lead to a magnificent revolution in the 18th century (Carothers 129).

One hundred years down the line, the US will be far better democratic because American citizens enjoy peace democratic governance (Small 96). In their quest to attain the democratic level as it is today the US went through tough times trying to overcome the unwritten law and make it written as it was done in England, In England's case, Magna Carta opened widely the ways leading to a better democratic system. On the other hand, King John was forced by the Aristocrats to sign laws that established the English Parliament. This was done with concerning laws, which brought down the powers of the royal family and handed extra powers to the people. The appeal of right (1628) showed that the King without the knowledge of the parliament could by no means collect the tax. Conversely, the Bill of righRights89) was banned at the typical penalty (Small 177). As the English philosopher John Locke said in his book 'Two Treatises,' the government must care for the rights of its people, which include natural rights as agreed later by a French philosopher Jean Jacques. The two argued that people should participate in operating the government. The work of these two philosophers is much seen in the U.S.A government, and that makes it a reflection, of better democracy in a hundred years to come (Mitchell 89).

In conclusion, it has been noted that English colonies who had a personal interest exploited the rights of U.S.A citizens and took all resources to their possession without the knowledge of the rightful owner of the natural resources. The democracy came in with time but under many struggles by the Northerners. Today, America is growing democratically and will be expected to have attained true democracy by a hundred years to come (Mitchell 200).
