The Irish, Chinese, and German Immigrants in the U.S - Essay Example

Answer Chinese immigrants were distinct in their color and racial-cultural identity. The middle nineteenth century had seen a mass influx of Chinese immigrants which continued through the next century with the main aim of becoming rich.

The Irish and German immigrants in America were conspicuous in their attitude towards work. The German immigrants were endowed with more money and therefore sought land and work in farmland. There were also politically active and endorsed the ideology of democrats who believed in equality and the welfare of the commoners.

The Irish immigrants, on the other hand, were driven to America due to poverty and scarcity of opportunities in their motherland. Most of the were employed in labor-intensive work like the construction of roads, canals, bridges, etc. But both, German and Irish immigrants faced huge opposition because they threatened the livelihood of Americans in low-paying jobs. Most importantly, German and Irish immigrants showed that America remained the most attractive place to realize one’s dream of a prosperous and happy life.
