Extract of sample "Battle of Gettysburg"

The American Civil War had a profound effect on what the United s has become today. More specifically, the Battle of Gettysburg was a key part of the war. Up until that point, it looked as though the Confederates would push further north and take control of the war. The Confederates lost many soldiers over this three-day battle, and it meant that they would be on the back foot for the rest of the war. After the Confederates were defeated at Gettysburg, they were unable to move further north or even retreat back towards the south.

IOnce the Union won the Battle of Gettysburg, they were able to slowly take control of the whole United States. The president at that time, Abraham Lincoln, was also able to use the Battle of Gettysburg to unite all Americans together under one dream. Later on that year (1863) in November, President Lincoln chose to visit the battlefield at Gettysburg to announce that it would become a military cemetery.
