Despite these differences, no one has a right to treat their colleagues unfairly due to their indifference. Thus discrimination can be defined as the act of treating others prejudicially due to their indifference with the majority of the community. Discrimination can be on an individual on in a general group.

According to most laws in the world discrimination against workers is highly prohibited (Doyle 27). This is due to the negative effects they have on the workers. They make workers do not achieve their full potential at their workplaces. If a company is found discriminating any of its workers should be made to pay because it is against the law and human rights too. In 2005 a company paid $50 million for damages after a lawsuit settlement filed by workers for claims of discrimination (Doyle 56).

Discrimination can be of various types and magnitude, and they include hiring and firing, job allocations within a company, biasness, and many more. Discrimination in companies is highly felt by employees especially when it comes from the management staff, for instance when managers favor a group of employees because they are from the same race, denying others the chance to exercise their duties which they could do better than the favored employees. There are several laws against discrimination in the workplace.

According to the Federal Equal employment opportunity laws of the US, it is an offense to discriminate against an employee based on gender, race, color, religion, and national origin (Gillam 56). Human beings should all be treated fairly despite their indifference, this is per human rights which help in eliminating discrimination. When creating up company policies human rights should be put into consideration and they should highly condemn biasness. Laws should be put in place to protect the underprivileged in any organization.

In this way, it will help create a friendly environment for all employees thus improving their productivity.
