Martin Luther King Jr., that things began to improve for African Americans. They improved slowly, and then with Obama, they suddenly took a huge leap forward. Dr. King was a religious man like Becket, which is very admirable. He sacrificed a lot for his beliefs and to bring justice to ordinary people. He was also killed in a shadowy manner at the height of his power. Both men were effective communicators. Sometimes, however, is can be useful to also work within existing structures in order to effect change.
