Through examining the two philosophers, we will be able to understand the main tenets of the ancient modern debate. Part A The main tenets of the ancient modern debate revolve around several differences on the subject of human nature. It is clear that different philosophers have presented diverse thoughts and opinions regarding the so called human nature. Building on this point of view, there has been a developing code of ethics emerging from such theorists and what people accept as true in the present day. It is worth examining Boethius view points on the subject and compare them with Machiavelli’s accordingly. Part B From a literal point of view, Boethius’s most excellent known work is referred as the consolation of philosophy. He wrote this work whilst in prison while awaiting his execution. Boethius finds himself in jail. At first, he is profoundly upset. The cause of his suffering emerges from his enduring project, effort to conserve ancient classical knowledge, specifically philosophy. His work represents an imaginary conversation between himself and philosophy. In that case, philosophy is personified as a woman. The arguments in this scenario are that, in spite of the apparent disparity of the humankind, there is, within platonic fashion, a high power and everything besides is secondary to such divine providence. Despite Boethius suffering while in exile, it is recorded that philosophy appears and attempts to “cure” his suffering. Philosophy, which is personified as a woman, does this in various ways. First of all, she does this by reminding him of what he once knew about the true nature of human beings; the nature of fortune, the nature of happiness, and the limits of politics to provide happiness (Boethius 49). In Boethius’ argument of the nature of fortune, happiness, and the limits of politics to provide happiness, he agonizes over the professed inappropriateness between the subsistence of God and the wickedness that exists in the earth. What is more, he agonizes between the existence of God and the superficial ethical inversion of the creation. In responding to such issues, Boethius declares that God’s kindness and God’s obligation to honesty does not necessitate that God get rid of every instance of evil. Then again, Boethius presents argument that there are at least different examples of goodness that appear to have need of the likelihood of some wickedness, ethical education with regards to the free will of humans and the true nature of happiness. Moreover, Boethius presents an argument that the nature of evil as self-destructive to wrongdoers and the nature of the ultimate good as the one which, every person naturally look for, an indication that the earth is not decently inverted. As a result, Boethius would dispute the reality of premise in the modern formulation of the issue of evil (Boethius 54). In his argument for the compatibility of the subsistence of God with the continuation of evil, he provides explanations as to why God would allow occurrences of evil and not do away with them. As a character in the Consolation, he seems to take consolation in such discoveries. Reflecting on the above discussion, it is worth contemplating that the lady philosophy brings to a n end the dialogue with both caution and encouragement, “ ...Download file to see next pagesRead More

...?CHAPTER 5 CASE 4 I believe that the drugstore did owe a duty of care to Booker and all the other s. It was imperative that it should maintain a safe environment or at least warn the customers about the possible dangers. My opinion is based on the following: Booker, as any other customer, may be considered a business invitee in the pharmacy. According to the dictionary, a business invitee is “the person entering in to a business premises with a purpose or intention to do any business or transaction with that business house whether or not such transaction is effected.”1 This is an important legal notion as the concept of invitee defines the legal duties owed by the property owner to his business invitees. Velocity 2 - Part II
...VELO 2 - PART II VELO 2 - PART II Response to CHANEL ADAMS There are so many lessons learnt from your post on how to avoid waste and how well to utilize human resources to achieve the goals of the organization. Based on your last passage, I would like to add some more insight on how best the organization can achieve its employee utilization and balance the line as expected. As indicated by Jacob (2010), in applying velocity, it is important that what each member within the organization can do and do well be factored. Very unfortunately though, there are a lot of organizations that suppress the need for employees to grow by emphasizing on only a few people for the...

...VELO 3 - PART II Response to KENDRA MOODY Hi, as thorough as your presentation is, I still believe that there are a number of insights I can offer to what you have already indicated in your paper. Indeed, it is important that you noted the place of interrelatedness in the quest to achieving efficiency when you admitted that throughput leads to increase in money, and management of constraint leads to throughput (Jacob, Bergland & Cox, 2010). As much as this position is acceptable, my insight is that approaching efficiency through interrelatedness should be done with much caution and only after the management is convinced that it has what it takes to trend such lines. This is because I have had a personal...

HR Alignment Part II
...HR ALIGNMENT PART II Response to Hayes  Hi friend, I right agree with you on the position you give to the core human resource alignment principle as being for the need to aligning the organization’s workforce and human resource capabilities with business objectives (Handler & Jasinski, 2010). In fact right after that, you came to appreciate the role of the human resource as being the major determinants of the organization’s success or failure. Based on this line of discussion, I would like to add some further insight by stating that because the human resource is expected to be aligned with the organization’s business objectives, the very first step that leaders of any organization has to take will have to...

HR Competencies - Part II
...HR COMPETENCIES - PART II Response to Judith The competencies you touched upon are of much interest to me due to the fact that there are some practical experiences I have gained on these based on formal and current organization. This puts me in a position to add more insight on your post. On the competencies, I found them to be extremely important in my previous workplace as our boss assigned selected group of people leadership roles. I was fortunate to be part of group of leaders. One of my first approaches was for me to gain as much knowledge about the business as possible that would make it possible for me to transfer knowledge to other people. With this experience of mine, I confident...

Global Talent Part II
...GLOBAL TALENT PART II Response to Anderson I can really appreciate the challenge you went through at your formal workplace in terms of how difficult it was to invest in talent, given the fact that it was a non-profit organization. This is because using the experience of my own former workplace which was also a non-profit organization, we had such problems initially. Through detailed search and understanding of literature however, we saw that even though it was always difficult to raise funds to invest in talent, there were innovative means by which we could achieve this (Mondore, Douthitt & Carson, 2011). I would therefore want to elaborate on your response by suggesting some of these innovative ways. At my organization, we saw... ...
