Download file to see previous pages The efforts put in by Roosevelt in the building of the United States are remarkable and he led the country on the path of success not only domestically but also on international levels. Franklin Delano Roosevelt was born in the year 1882 on the 30th of January in Hyde Park which is located in the city of New York. He was the son of James and Sara Roosevelt. He studies at the Harvard College and studies law at the Columbia Law School. He was a lawyer by profession. He got married to Anna Eleanor in the year 1905. Franklin Roosevelt entered politics following the footsteps of his cousin, President Theodore Roosevelt. He was a Democrat and became actively involved in politics. In the year 1910 and again in 1912, he became elected as a member of the Senate of New York. In the year 1913, he was given the role of the Assistant Secretary of the Navy by President Wilson. He played a crucial part in the preparedness of the forces of the United States for the First World War. He was known for his hard work and strength that he put in for the completion of his roles by the members of the Democratic Party. Owing to his good position in the party, in the year 1920, he was nominated for the position of the Vice President by the Democratic Party (WhiteHouse.gov; Miller Center). The year 1921 was a difficult year for Roosevelt as he was diagnosed with the crippling disease of polio. With the assistance of his loved ones as well as self-motivation and courage, Roosevelt managed to rise from the illness and recover. He gained his strength and joined politics again in the year 1928. His success upon his return could be assessed by the fact that he became the Governor of New York in the same year. In the year 1929, the dark period of the economic burden began and the Great Depression started. Roosevelt put in his efforts to recover his State. His policies provided for his support and he was able to make a good stand for himself in New York. This led to his success again as the Governor of New York in the year 1930 (WhiteHouse.gov; Miller Center). Franklin Roosevelt earned great political fame during his period of governorship and this made him the most suitable choice of President in the elections of 1932 against President Hoover. Roosevelt proposed a New Deal for the people of his country and his policies and fame led him to become the President of the United States in the year. His speech after taking office was a success and brought hope in the much troubled nation of the United States. Roosevelt worked for the correction of the sectors of industry, finance as well as agriculture. He turned to provide instant assistance to the deprived people in the form of money. His most important tool that he used to gain the support of the country was his speeches to the citizens on radio in which he assured them of assisting them. Roosevelt put forward acts which benefited the labor unions like the Wagner Act. His Social Security Act was for the purpose of providing security to the elderly citizens as well as the poor people or those who did not have employment. Roosevelt worked to make all the citizens of the United States feel privileged. His successful strategies left to him being elected two more times after his first presidency. He provided an international strong stand to the United States during the Second World War.
