The book is a memoir of her encounter as a Jew for the duration of the holocaust. Also, the book talks of her existence before the Hitler’s administration. Judith speaks of the looks that a Jew had to have and how she had a high regard for her father’s nose. Her father’s nose was straight. Judith feared having the same nose as her mother because it bent when it was close to the tip. Her fear for her mother’s nose was not because she considered it to look ugly, but because it was not similar to the Aryan appearance. The head of state, Hitler, made a declaration that the ideal human being should have the Aryan look. The Aryan appearance was made up of an extremely proportional facial structure.

Moreover, Hitler’s administration had unique measurement methods that helped to determine this look. Also, an individual with an Aryan appearance had to have blue eyes and blond hair.
