Once, when he rose up to defend one of his friends called Vettius in a court, the response of the masses verged on the limits of ecstasy and extremes of euphoric elation, thereby making his not less talented opponents look immature children.5 In a political context, Plutarch tends to extol the virtues of two brothers to the extent that they come out as paragons of political goodness, public interest and welfare, a more pragmatic analysis of their political actions and tactical foibles leads to the conclusion that in the long run they would not have come out as effective leaders. In case of Gaius, he mostly ended up as being instrument of popular dissent and frustration, without evincing the ability to shape and form the public opinion.6 His political ambition relied for sustenance on flimsy props like graffiti messages left by people at public places, the populist advice of his supporters and the predominantly emotional appeals of his friends.7 Even Tiberius, as a political leader was vulnerable to emotional sways, unlawful machinations, populism and vendetta.8 Besides he did not hesitate to milk emotional mileage from the fate of his brother by time and again using it to foment the popular resentment.9 It would not me wrong to acknowledge the existence of a possibility that at one level the two brothers intended to use the proposed reforms to...

Although professedly in the service of the people, the Grachii brothers do sometimes twisted the laws to suit their purpose. ...Download file to see next pagesRead More

...? LEHMAN BROTHER AND THE “REPO 105” SCANDAL By Lehman Brothers and the “Repo 105” Scandal The “Repo 105”is an accounting trick commonly used by banks and other financial institutions such as investment banks, whereby they report a short-term loan as a sale, which of course is not. The cash in from the said “sale” is used to offset debts, a move which allows the company to temporarily pay down its liabilities, thus significantly reducing its leverage. The temporal pay trick is usually long enough to reflect the said “sales” on the company’s published balance sheet, but after the company has declared its financial report, it later borrows money and repurchases its original assets. The trick works perfectly,...

Raffaele, Nicola, and Rocco, the three brothers, grew in their hometown in Puglia, but their life far from parents' home largely changed their views and made them idealists. Now, they all live far from home and have own occupations. Rosi's drama starts with the death of the mother and coming of three sons to her funeral. Rosi shows that the death of the mother is perceived by each of the brothers almost in the same way; however, they all have other emotional issues that are pressing on them. The life in 1970s Italy, does not allow them to accept the things as they go...

Muslim Brothers
...15 November The Brothers Analysis One thing that I disliked about the stylewas the fact that the narrative was quite non-linear in structure. Its non-linearity occasionally became irritating. There were frequent moments in which I felt that the author had used the jumping around as a substitute for a sensible development of the character. Nevertheless, I must say that the non-linear structure of the story in part, bore the flavor of the disjointed familial relationships that the members of the family discussed had had. The story also had numerous depressing and possibly sick elements in it like the sister’s craze for her brothers. Beyond a certain limit, the purity of the love becomes suspicious. Another...

Joseph Ellis is a history professor at Mount Holyoke College who even received a Pulitzer Prize for writing the book. The book narrates an interesting account of dialogue held amongst a group of people who were both gifted as well as flawed. These aren’t any ordinary interactions, rather quite complex ones which had an immense impact in the early development episodes of the United States of America. It has also been noted that the technique used in the book has been borrowed from a classic study of Lytton Strachey i.e. The Eminent...

The Wright Brothers
...The Wright Brother’s Leadership and Legacy The Wright brothers, Orville and Wilbur white made an incredible invention in the early 20th century (Timothy, 220). Their discovery changed the face of the aviation industry as they invented aircraft controls and three axis control. This enables pilots to steer an aircraft well and also maintain its equilibrium to date (Crouch, 6). They were closely following the research of Otto Lilienthal, a German aviator who died in a glider clash. By collecting more accurate data, they were able to build wings and propellers which could not be compared to their predecessors (Joe, 59). Before they developed the first aero plane, they had a shop with bicycles, motors and...
