Download file to see previous pages The Watergate Scandal was a noteworthy indignity in the 1970s that was unsuccessfully covered by the Nixon administration. The scandal, which was politically motivated, led to the eventual resignation of Nixon. The achievements made by the Richard Nixon are discussed in both books. However, Watergate narrowly states few achievements that Nixon realized during his administration. The author does not delve much into other appreciable achievements of the president, but rather, it focuses on the scandal. Conversely, The American Journey: A History of United States describes most of the achievements the president brought to the populace. The author describes the achievements vividly through the book and appreciates the efforts of the president, for example, the ending of the Vietnam War that had taken almost a decade. The war had negatively affected the economic situation of the country, consuming vast amounts of resources. The war had also brought tension among countries globally; hence, it was feared that it could cause another world war. Another achievement was creating friendship and reconciling with China whose economy was becoming stronger annually. Goldfield highlights widely on the issues that emerged during the rule of Nixon and the Watergate scandal. ...
These incidents included the effects of the Vietnam War on the American populace, and the world secret demonstrations of the American citizens on the streets, which were against the Vietnam War, and the visit of Richard Nixon to China to promote peace between the countries. In the Watergate, the author describes the life of Richard M. Nixon intensely by giving background information, and childhood life experience as a child. He does this by providing relevant profile information such as the date of birth, and the years he was campaigning for the presidency. However, in the book The American Journey: A History of United States the author describes the past life of the president, but does not evaluate on details that describe the childhood life of Richard M. Nixon. He only gives brief information about the life history of Richard Nixon as the thirty-seventh president of America. Goldfield David presents his story in an understandable manner because of his chronological description of the events as they occurred (Goldfield, et al). He explains the story and then writes on the effects of the Watergate scandal on the American political and economic sector. Conversely, the author of Watergate does not present his ideas in an orderly manner. For example, the author begins his story by stating the effects of the Watergate scandal before even explaining how it happened and the victims involved. He describes the event in the middle of the story and names the mastermind of the scandal. He explains his story without following any procedure, though the story and the concept are still understandable. The authors’ styles of writing vary from each other, though they ...Download file to see next pagesRead More
